I was just wondering, with metal and its dark, angry, and aggressive sound and band members that look equally as terrifying at times, how do death metal bands find woman that would marry them?

Do they even get married?

I find it hard to believe with lyrical themes of rape, and mutilation.

Could anyone give me an example of band members who are married.

Because there are bands, and then there are people.

No. In the history of Death Metal, no members of any DM bands have ever been married.

Glen Benton is married, for one thing. I've seen Alex Webster with a ring on his ring finger.

I think you have failed to draw the distinction between reality and fantasy. On the whole, musicians who sing of rape, mutilation, necrophelia etc do it for shock value. They are not real rapists or corpse screwers. Granted, what goes on in their minds may be a little disturbing, but I believe death metal lyricists are able to harness the dark fascinations that exist within all of us better than the common folk.

With the exception of Glen Benton, the general impression for me is that most death metal musicians are quite decent and nice people.

Are you serious? Just because these guys are in heinous death metal bands doesn't mean they are scary-ass fucking crack-heads who murder people. They're still people. You're a human being first, you know?

Although, I know that Glen Benton of Deicide is married with 2 kids. Haha funny story, his son once asked him why he had the inverted cross on his forehead, and he told him that he was running in church and he bumped his head on a cross. Hold on, I'll find the article... it's in Revolver

"My oldest song asked about it once, and I told him I bumped my head running in church"

Pretty funny, to elaborate the thread a little more, does anybody know of any personal family stories of any metal bands?

Stupid thread but anyway: I read that Trey Azagthoth met his wife at a gaming convention or something similar.

To answer the OP, a lot of death metal band members find their spouses out in graveyards robbing other graves or in Satanic churches.

I recall one guy was raping this dead chick, then he married her.

Almost everybody I know in Black and Death metal (bands, distro owners etc) over the age of about 25 is either married or in a long-term relationship. Anyway, not neccessarily connected to this is the fact that even if you're singing about inverting the desecrated anus of Mary (or whatever) the standard band-equation still applies: being in a half-decent, half-successful band makes your attractiveness to women quadruple.
