For fans of the band, they posted this on their Myspace.

Quote:
THE SKULL COLLECTORS – THE New Album From HIBRIA
The album has 9 songs and brings HIBRIA connected to their roots but in a more contemporary approach, resulting in a blasting raging album made to energize, from the beginning to the end, whoever listens to it.

Japan will be the first country to launch it through Spiritual Beast/Universal Music on December 10th.

Once again, the album was produced by guitar and bass players Diego Kasper and Marco Panichi.

They..ve brought the powerful vocals of Iuri Sanson to new stages and highlighted the complex rhythm riffs and arrangements developed by guitar players Abel Camargo and Diego Kasper up to the face of the listeners. Drums and Bass guitar were in charge of delivering a consistently heavy and loud rhythm section to support the strong melodies developed by the lead musicians.

HIBRIA's new CD was mixed and mastered in Germany by ACHIM KÖHLER. His previous works have made him the appointed person to deal with the different moods of the album. Achim has worked with bands from different styles such as Amon Amarth, Sodom, Pink Cream 69 and Brainstorm. He was also responsible for the mixing and Mastering of the album Devil's Ground from Primal Fear, and he has done a consistent remastering work on several Death Metal Cds, mainly from the record label Nuclear Blast.

The lyrics of the album explore the path crossed by a man who achieves his dream on becoming an air force pilot but later on, leaded by his ambition and vanity, joins a mercenary group. He then looses a partner in a trap set up by a rival group and becomes charged for that. Dominated by his wish for revenge, he falls into self-destruction meanwhile he is confined in a bunker with his past remembrances.

On December 7th, the video-clip for the song Tiger Punch will be released on the Internet.

As of February the album will be available worldwide. Exact dates still to be confirmed.

Track List:
1 - Tiger Punch
2 - Reborn from the Ashes
3 - Screaming Ghost
4 - Sea of Revenge
5 - The Anger Inside
6 – Devoted to Your Fear
7 - The Skull Collectors
8 - Burning all the Flags
9 - Wings of Wax

Sounds like it's gonna slay! They basically vanished for a long period of time and I thought they were dead. Looks like I was wrong. I'm really excited about this news.

Yeah, I saw that album available for pre-order at HMV-Japan a week or so ago (with the album cover).

I hope this album won't disappoint and will build upon the first album. The album concept seems a bit... different too, which is a good thing.

It kinda sucks about the worldwide release date being in Feb though. I'm debating if I just want to go ahead and order it from HMV Japan (they have a few other titles I want anyway).

Actually I liked the cover art for the debut ... that's me though. :P

Sounds great, as do the song titles. I'll be looking out for it. I am slightly apprehensive though, as it doesn't often turn out good when a band makes you wait so long for an album...

I somehow doubt it, mainly because of "a more contemporary approach" (well, at least they used "contemporary" instead of "modern").

Yeah, the "contemporary" line worries me a bit as well. Honestly, every band will hype up their newest album prior to release, I never believe this shit. They'll never upright say "Well, this isn't as good as Defying the Rules, but I think fans will like it anyways".

the snippet of new material in this video sounds extremely promising, not 'contemporary' at all. Personally, I'm pretty sure it will kick ass.

It isn't like Hibria's debut was very old school or anything either, it sounded like Iron Savior and Paragon rolled up into a ball, with some proggy influences here and there.

That snippet was sufficiently awesome, but as a bassist, ridiculous bass runs give me a stiffy.

Tiger Punch?

Sign me up.

The sample sounds more technical/progressive than their first album, but that's not necessarily a bad thing and could not be indicative of the whole album.

Reminds me of the ridiculous shit Dragonforce is so fond of (the title/possibly lyrics, anyway).

I checked out Hibria because I saw everyone jacking them off on the archives, heard "Steel Lord on Wheels" on their Myspace, and loved it. The rest of the album wasn't quite as good, but it was still very solid. I hope the new stuff is good.

If you order from Japan, it will be. :( Not sure you want to spend $25+ US for a CD though.

I *might* buy it from there anyway, simply due to running out of stuff I want to buy...

On extraneous matters...
The cover isn't quite what I'd hoped for. Maybe it's just the weeaboo in me speaking, but I loved the manga/comic book style of the first album's art, just seemed to sync up perfectly with the overall tone of the music and the lyrics. Then again, it'd be pretty hard to beat their self titled album's cover art for pure awesome.
The concept sounds like a lot of fun (if a tad familiar... *ahem* http://www.themanime.org/viewreview.php?id=80), and has the potential for some great musical imagery (just as the original will always conjure up in my mind apocalyptic futurescapes teeming with mace and sword wielding motorcyclists) also, 'TIGER PUNCH' has to be the best song title ever. Seriously. Does it involve punching a tiger? Being punched by a tiger? Is it the mammalian equivalent of a falcon punch!? Who knows.

As for the music, what little I've heard sounds super promising. It's possible that 'Tiger Punch', as the first track, is the most traditional of the lot and the rest of them exhibit these 'contemporary' influences mentioned? Because it sounds like solid, traditional heavy/power metal thus far, if slightly proggy. Come to think of it, if they took DTR's general style and turned up the prog a bit that'd probably be my ideal musical progression for this band. I'm pretty jaded I guess because I balk when I hear phrases like "connected to their roots but in a more contemporary approach", it lends itself to the idea that the music will be somehow 'less', that the elements I enjoy most will be toned down. Hopefully Hibria's musical changes will all be additive... but yes, I've rambled on enough. Bring on the leak/eventual release date. :D

Regardless of what one thinks of the song title, it's up on their myspace.

Hell, I could not be happier with this. If the rest of the album lives up to this standard, then they've scored another home run in my book. They must have lapped up the positive feedback about the bass guitar usage in their last album, because it seems more prominent here than in previous songs. Iuri's voice is still stunning. Gah. So awesome.

Sounds really good. Pretty straight forward song, good for an opener. I hope they don't try to make every song a straight forward big chorus sing along. Tracks like The Faceless in Charge and Stare at Yourself really gave their debut the little extra it needed. I know some people may disagree.

That cover is gay. The album name is gay. I know the music won't be gay.

EDIT: Tiger Punch is kind of gay. The music isn't very interesting. Or maybe I just don't give a shit about Hibria anymore.

Tiger Punch sounds quite good, not much different from the first album and that's a good thing. It's definitely a solid piece eccentric yet riff-heavy power metal that's catchy as all hell, but damn, those bass lines are getting ridiculous.

Tiger Punch is one of the worst song titles in history (and this is coming from a Lair of the Minotaur fan). I love Street Fighter as much as the next guy, but come on! Anyways, I'd heard something about how the album was supposed to have more modern melodic influences in it, which really worried me. But as a few have said, this sounds exactly like the first album. So it won't be anything ground breaking or life affirming, but it'll probably be just as fun and enjoyable as Defying the Rules.
