Anyone mention IT yet? They sung about Pennywise the clown and Tim Curry.

You could make a really good concept album about that book. Shame nobody with talent has tried.

Well there are a great deal of books one could write concept albums about. I forget the name now, but I once read a short novel about a man who was falsely sent to prison, met a man there who told him the location of massive amounts of treasure, then escaped. He found it and used the wealth to settle his differences and tie up the loose ends of his life from before he was imprisoned. Maybe its just me, but that would work quite well for a concept album (especially seeing as the book took place in the 1800s.)

The Count of Monte Cristo? Never read it myself, but the movie was pretty entertaining.

An album based on "The Sound and the Fury" would certainly be interesting. Slough Feg's song "Tiger Tiger" makes reference to William Blake's poem of the same name.

As far as I know, Tiger Tiger is just the other name for the book The Stars My Destination, which that album seems to be loosely based on.

I've not read TSMD, but there is no doubt in my mind that SF references Blake in that song.

Slough Feg wrote:
The spheres in motion wrapped around collapsing stars
Immortal hands and eyes are framed in fearful scars
The mystery of living, breathing, dying hard

My name and occupation tattooed on my face
The stars my destiny, deep space my dwelling place
Delirious and rotting, where's my saving grace

The stars burn bright
In the forest of night
But what mortal hands and eyes will I see there?

I'm locked behind bars
On the gateway to Mars
But when all the stars expire will I still be here?

I'll set the villages and colonies aflame
The bards of history had best forget my name
Deliriously plotting, Nomad is my fame

William Blake wrote:
TIGER, tiger, burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand dare seize the fire?

And what shoulder and what art
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand and what dread feet?

What the hammer? what the chain?
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? What dread grasp
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?

When the stars threw down their spears,
And water'd heaven with their tears,
Did He smile His work to see?
Did He who made the lamb make thee?

Tiger, tiger, burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?

I have bolded the corresponding parts.

However, I was wrong about one thing: Blake's poem is called "The Tiger" not "Tiger Tiger."

I wouldn't have noticed it myself if I hadn't been studying The Tiger for english class while listening to Tiger Tiger.

Yes they did, but they scavenged them from animals that had died naturally. "Viking" is actually an archaic word for "Vegan".

The Count of Monte Cristo is definitely not short.

I don't remember the length. At the time it didn't seem very long, but my memory may be muddled. Regardless, its a great book.

THE LORD WEIRD SLOUGH FEG.

The lyrics for "Atavism" (probably the best metal album in the last ten years) are simply amazing, a perfect fusion of clever metaphoras and scientific/naturalistic/historical themes. I think one should love titles like "I WILL KILL YOU / YOU WILL DIE" or "AGNOSTIC GRUNT".
