I have a bunch of old school thrash songs sitting on my computer in various stages of completion, and none of them have vocals. I don't do thrash vocals anymore, and I was never that great at it to begin with. So what to do? I threw some death growls on there, higher pitched than usual, added a bit of reverb to get that outdated 1980s vocal sound, and voila, old school death/thrash! It was fun. I also used a JCM900 and tubescreamer VSTs and my flying v, trying to get a nice 80s/90s guitar sound. Check out the solo that starts at about 1:55 in this song. That's a solo that'll give the entire 1980s a hard-on. Hahaha.

Thanks! I think this is what I'm going to do with all my old thrash riffs.

I like the tone a lot. The 900 is so underrated.

Mad respect for you for building your own instruments and gear.

Thanks! I have a difficult project ahead that I want to make. Another firefly, but with 2 output tubes instead of 1, and with a full powered tonestack and master volume. It won't be easy, but it'll be worth it in terms of tone.

Once I get back to the states I can resume a flying v project I started there, also. mahogany body topped with flamed purpleyheart, and a 7 piece neck.

I'd like to build my own jcm800, but I am not nearly competent enough to do so. I figure the parts alone may cost me as much as a used jcm800 though. How did you learn to do this all? My daily amp is an ampeg vh140c and just looking at the schematic, I immediately was lost.

ax84.com is a great place to learn, and I've built some of their amps.
