Hey, quick question (hopefully)! Ok, So I'm starting a new project soon and I'm envisioning it to be VERY heavy doom/death metal but with some diSEMBOWELMENT influence to string together some more of that meditative and trance sections. Now, the problem is I live in a small community and honestly couldn't find any drummers who would be willing to do the job. I do have experience (basic) writing drums on, say, guitar pro but I'm looking for a Pro or almost pro sound. I'm currently running Cubase artist 9 and the drums fucking suck. I gave EZ drummer a quick trial and liked it but didn't really care for the lack of options as far as editing sounds and actually using anything other than 4/4 time in its interface(it still plays beats I've exported with my MIDI tracks from Guitarpro but screws up the whole layout) but would be willing to work around it if it turned out to be the best sounding option.

Any suggestions for a Drum program that's not INSANELY expensive (looking to spend like 350-400 MAX and only when I have the music ready)? I've had some people say Battery 4 looks decent but I really need to make this purchase count. So basically after being long winded the question is just what are some good options for almost the entire metal genre? I've given up recording drums its just impossible to financially for me. I can get some Savage heavy tones with almost all basically rock instruments but fuck drums are the final mystery and I really want this project to sound perfect.

You could easily get Superior Drummer 2, or EZDrummer and one of the EZX expansions like Metal! or Metal Machinery within that budget. Those would be where I'd look first. If not, then SSD4 is also within that price range.

Shaolin, sent you a email.

yeah, I was looking at that as well. I'm just thinking that as far as superior if I'm gonna do it I may as well just splurge and go all in so I'm happy in the long run. just not sure if there are any alternatives that work well our there either. I was thinking about branching off into some other styles of music that I have written up as well so the extra options with SP3 are appealing...

I'm a pretty big fan of Perfect Drums 1.5. I've used them on various productions both personal and for clients. For example, the latest single from Bloodsoaked.

Checked out perfect drums quickly and seems pretty cool and the price is right ( plus i think i had read free updates which is a huge plus for me) . As soon as i stop working these insane hours ill be trying a demo. Just hope its got versitality. Dont get me wrong i always will take working with a drummer over midis since natural sounds just way better. And no offence but that heavily triggered modern sound is something im trying to avoid. I know its kind of a contradiction in a way considering im looking for drum midis essentially. Just gotta do what ya gotta do sometimes
