I am thinking of getting this amp. Is it suitable for Black Metal? I heard it is a classic rock and 80s metal amp.

Yup, drive-wise, no problem at all. Did you have a specific kind of tone in mind, or are you just wondering if it can get heavy and distorted enough?

Yeah it's not a bad amp, I've had one in the past. Just make sure to boost the overdrive channel with a Tubescreamer or similar pedal for better results.

Later I've upgraded to a 6505, which is the amp I generally recommend for extreme metal.

On the older models (not sure about the currently available ones), they sound way better if you jump the effects loop with a patch cable, and put a headphone adaptor in Input 1 and plug your guitar into Input 2. Takes a load of the muddy shit out of the tone.
