So i have a bass player in my "band" that whenever i try to ask him to come over for band practices or meetings, he always makes up a lie about how he can't come or he has school band to play for. Now he is somewhat anti-social and socially awkward when it comes to talking with people, probably because he is kinda a loner and all he does is play roblox and goes on weird fandom apps on his phone. But he is a amazing bassist who got state finalist in this competition he did for the school band. But i was was asking for what should i do with him: throw him to the curve or give him a few more trys?

You could try talking to him about it, and ask if there's something your band could do differently to motivate him to show up to rehearsals more consistently. Then you and your bandmates could weigh your options depending on the outcome of that discussion.

If he seems socially anxious, it can be difficult to get him to say anything, but at least you'll let him know that you want to motivate him to be part of the band, aren't happy with his current level of involvement, and are willing to consider changing and improving things.

Bottom line is, if he's holding your band back, and you can't figure out a way to make it work, just start looking for a replacement.

Just get a new bass player bro. Fuck chasing people all the time. If someone wants to do something, they will. And yeah people do get sick, things come up, etc, and that is ok. But when it is a regular occurrence then yeah, they're probably not that interested.

Make Guitar Pro tracks of your songs and tell him to practice alone in his house. Also, tell him to use sunglasses during shows so the social phobia of having to look at people's eyes doesn't kill him.

Being in a band, means you form a unity with the rest of the band. If you want to reach something (may it be gigs, a record released), you need commitment. Look further.
