I love lead guitar. The more decadent, the better. Who's shredding here on M-A? Post your hottest licks or whatever tricky shit you've been woodshedding lately and let's talk about it. Audio clips, videos, whatever. Fuck it, tab out something disgusting and challenge people to play it.

I'll kick things off. The first video on my Instagram page with the natural wood finish guitar is a little solo I've been working on for an upcoming Gatekeeper song. Going into the studio to lay it down on Friday along with a bunch of other licks and leads. Based in A-minor (tuned down a whole step). It's starts off in minor pentatonic and then goes into a more Aeolian thing where I outline more 7th chords. I find my melodic sense to be similar to Jake E Lee.

I've got a long way to go before I get my chops to the level I imagine in my head but I'm pretty happy with how clean I've gotten this.

I probably should have practiced this a bit more before posting, but I was in a great mood and decided fuck it. I love the melodic sense and chord progressions of a lot of Japanese rock and metal.

Aw yea dude. I haven't even thought of attempting any of Syu's stuff yet. What tune is that from? It's got some cool phrasing. Also, how are you liking those little Yamaha practice amps? I have a Line 6 Helix that I use live/recording/at home but I need to get a little amp for when I'm jamming with other people at someone's house.

Fellow shred fan here, even if relatively novice! glad to see a little love for the discipline

I can play decently and with confidence solos like the ones by Rhoads, Opeth and the easier Skolnick ones, but i'm working a lot to get to the next level: stuff like Friedman, Santolla, LaRocque..

Right now i'm trying to find a very tough but possible one to spend a month over

Right now can't check out your videos, i'll do when i can, i'm curious!

Would love to see some more clips in here from our guitarist brethren!

No video, but this is a little snippet from the upcoming Gatekeeper LP of one of my solos. I usually do one or two solos/licks per release since I generally work with better guitarists than myself but I'm pretty happy with this solo. Mix is ruff n tuff stuff etc etc
