Eventually SLK is going to be like Sarah Winchester, except instead of building endless room additions to house the spirits of people killed by Winchester Rifles, he'll just keep nailing thousands and thousands of sheds onto his house to store massive heaps of amps.

hahahahaha the only difference is I'll be killing ghosts cause currently everything I have is set up to be played immediately by turning it on or at least switching some speaker cables around to a different head. I'm trying to change that where it's at least a cab or rig per head. because... I can. I need to get some splitters for my splitter.

Keep coming up with concepts for songs and shit, lyrical ideas. Haven't had much time to sit down and write this week but I plan on sitting down and trying to compose an epic death/black song this weekend. It'll be a lot of fun.

I'd like to think I have a decent mental notepad for these sorts of things until I can at least record some riffs for future reference. I've got a title for the song already and a general concept for the lyrics and the type of feeling I'd like to give with the music, so it'll just be a matter of "getting it down on paper" so to speak. It'll be about one of my favorite stories from the Poetic Edda which involves Odin travelling to the underworld in order to perform necromancy on a dead woman in order to gain information about the apocalypse. :)

So my band just received some hate mail. Some guy sent us a picture of one of our CDs torn up and vowed to destroy any materials of ours he could find. The reason? Apparently he is butthurt because our guitarist was a jerk to him at a job he worked over 5 years ago.

Was it your Smiths/Depeche Mode influenced band CorpseFister? If so just send him a bunch of Morissey lyrics mocking him and see if he gets it. Actually that would probably still be funny even if it wasn't that band.

"Dear sir. I was going to write an insulting reply but you just haven't earned it yet baby. I could go on but frankly Mr. Shankly, I was bored before I even began."

Nah we wouldn't bother replying to him, although we did figure out who the guy is. Funny thing is our guitarist doesn't even remember him! He threatened to go destroy all our albums at the local campus station but turns out he's been banned from there for being a shithead. We did post his hate mail on our social media accounts though, it was good for a laugh.

That is glorious. what a serious crying shit esp for holding a grudge for that long. I love it when someone hates me for that long when I've long since forgotten who the fuck they are.

That's such a great story, Mr. Fister! :p
Even funnier that more people have felt the wrath of said person.

I AGREE 100%! This was back in High School and I was at a friends B-Day Party. This one guy comes up to me and kinda bumps my shoulder, aggressively, and said "Hey! You that guy that be talkin shit 'bout Dejon a couple years back!" And I looked at him very confused like and responded with "Umm... who's Dejon? I've never known a single person named that...." Then he got a look on his face and kinda gave me a fist bump and went on his way. He held a grudge with me for years all because he thought I was someone else

hahaha. i've had some similar shit where someone has asked why i was talking shit about a certain someone. And they finally get the never to ask me a year or more later and then after 10mins of them explaining what the fuck they are all pissed about then I laugh say that everything I said is the exact truth even if I don't remember it. There's a reason I said it obviously so they are a fucking moron and so are you for conserning yourself with something that ain't even your business.

Well I crashed an ATV in Cambodiawhile going at speed over a pothole. This puts me out of action musically for the next few days at least which sucks. Though I should be glad it's just a bunch of surface lacerations and abrasions instead of anything broken.

Just don't try to get too much into character to learn this solo, if you know what I mean.

Hehe noice :P I'm looking forward to hearing it.

Spent today recording what I would describe as a super menacing black metal song clocking in at 6 mins. So I've beaten my longest song time now which I'm very pleased about.

Was trying very hard to decide between a Dean VMNT(Dave Mustaine signature), an RGIX20 as mentioned before, and an Ibanez MFM1 (Marty Friedman signature). In the end, the MFM1 being the cheapest and also the only one with passive pickups won me over. I had the opportunity to try it a little bit and the 3 piece neck feels really solid, just like a Les Paul. I like how the fixed Gibralter bridge feels against my right hand for palm muting too and although I would have liked an ebony fretboard, it still feels great for soloing.

Looks atypical too! http://ibanez.wikia.com/wiki/MFM1

Speaking of atypical guitars, anyone know what the hell that guitar is the guy from Bolzer plays? Here's one of the biggest pictures of it I could find:

Spoiler: show
Image

It's got like five or six knobs, a couple of selector switches it looks like, and has the standard six tuning pegs on the headstock but then at least four more down at the tail. Really weird but cool guitar.

SLK beat me to it, yeah its a Rich Bich. It's a 10 string guitar but you can just string 6 and use it as a regular 6 string guitar. Dave Mustaine did so during the Metallica and early Megadeth days. It certainly looks good and I wouldn't mind having me one of those in the future.

Oh, that's the handbuilt super fancy version, but there's a much more affordable version for us regular folk:

Set neck and ebony fretboard? This will be another addition to the GAL (Gear Acquisition List).

Well I decided to bite the bullet/pull the trigger once and for all and got the Ibanez MFM1, Marty Friedman signature model. Mahogany body with quilt maple top, 3 piece mahogany neck, rosewood fretboard and SD JB/59 pickups. Plays like a dream, the neck is as solid as a les paul's but the guitar is surprisingly light and the clarity at high gain stages is unmatched by anything I've ever played before. I got this for about US$700 and beezelbub be blown if it isn't the best instrument I've ever bought. Will post a demo tomorrow.

As an added bonus, it will complement my Schecter equipped with SD Invader pretty nicely should I use both to record the next album. Whichbtw is almost commencing, as soon as we've finalized the rest of the nitty gritty(and I recover from my horrific injuries hehe).

Had band practice for the first time in a week last night (we've all been sick  ). Have one more show in two weeks and then FUNERAL AGE will finally focus on completing the writing process of our third album :D . We only need 2 more songs for [what we consider] a full album, and one already has some riffs, so just ironing it out and making sure everything flows and sounds good is left for that one!

The mixing is nearly completed for the debut Mesmur album, then we will begin Mastering that and hope to see a late summer/early fall release for that guy. We were planning on Early Summer but had many set backs.

And lastly, since Funeral Age will be focusing on writing (meaning I don't have to take my drums apart and haul them to shows) I will be able to work on recording the drum parts for Dalla Nebbia's sophomore album. Mostly everything is done for that except drums, so I am stoked to get that completed! I think I've noted before that we will have Sareeta of Borknagar, Trollfest, Solefald fame recording violin for us. Should be fun :)

Very cool! I have plans to record this week but I have some other things that are sorta pulling me away from spending the time i'd like in writing and recording as i've had in the past.

After a few delays, we're finally set to record the new album July 11-13 at Belle City Sound in Wisconsin, where Jungle Rot, Novembers Doom and Lazarus AD have all recorded. Pretty damn excited. We're also playing at the Illinois Death Metal festival this Saturday alongside 9 other bands (including JR), which will be the biggest metal show I've ever performed in, so also excited about that.

For my personal stuff, I just started building a modular synthesizer, having bought some components off ebay for $1,000 less than what they would cost new.

Well I took a few minutes to record a short demo of the new guitar, here it is:

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10152473163040912&set=vb.720695911&type=2&theater

Not nearly as hot as my go-to metal guitar but hot enough for metal and versatile enough for pretty much anything.
