Post subject:  Black Metal reviews

I am trying to find people who would like to write a review and tell your opinion for an underground Black Metal album you like or not. The reviews will be published in a new site about Black Metal. If you are interested ask me for more information.

What does orthodox mean in the context of your site?

Post subject:

Orthodox means the untouched by modern sound pure BLACK METAL, with both the sound and the philosophy of the first years of BLACK METAL.

Yes, please do. Since this is an idealogically driven site as well as a genre oriented review site, it would be helpful for prospective reviewers to understand the basic philosophical and aesthetic tennents they should presumably agree with before signing up.

It's a blog about the sound of the first era of BLACK METAL. Satanic, anti-religious or misanthropic phylosophy and raw BLACK METAL sound. Bathory, Merciful Fate, Darkthrone, Marduk, old Mayhem, Master's Hammer, early Behemoth, early Burzum, Beherit, Blaspemy, Von, Sarcophago, early Rotting Christ. Generally the sound played during the first era of BLACK METAL. We want to remember unknown or little known bands of that era and to promote new underground bands who play that way. But everyone is free to write whatever he likes about BLACK METAL bands. Also we don't like to put ratings on albums. We only like reviews with the description of the musical/lyrical content of the albums and the personal opinion of the writer. If it's not clear again tell me what else you want me to explain. Thanks

Merciful Fate

You mean Mercyful Fate?

Also, I'm fairly certain the crappy production on early black metal albums was due to budget restraints and technological limitations. Not sure why any group would willingly make their album sound like ass, but...

Yes Mercyful Fate. I believe that Mercyful Fate was the first band that defined the phylosophical orientation of the BLACK METAL scene and not musically but lyrically they are BLACK METAL. First of all BLACK METAL is a phylosophical expression, secondly a musical.....

There are more self-declared experts on what true black metal is than there are black metal bands.

Whatever true BLACK METAL is for a fan is a personal opinion and preference. I don't pretend to be an expert or anything like that... I'm just a fan and maybe there are other fans who think the way i do.
