Just finished and submitted the report for Trivium's Ascendancy.

I'll take on Trivium's The Crusade next; fisticuffs with Heafy.

Done. Found only 7 that are nukeworthy and was quite astounded by the high quality of the rest.

I'll take Dragonforce's Inhuman Rampage because I have nothing better to do.

I've got a little bit of time on my hands today and I was just finishing up a listening session of "Celebration Of Guilt", so I'll take Arsis' "We Are The Nightmare".

edit: Just completed "We Are The Nightmare", I'll hold off on doing another one until a later date.

Finished Trivium's The Crusade, so I suppose I'll go for In Flames' Colony. One skim and I already can tell a couple can be taken off that page.

Oh ok, didn't know it was changed. Before people were doing one after the other in a matter of days.

I added that rule to lessen the load on the staff. I edited the OP to say that a user could ask for a new assignment at any time after their last report, but you should wait seven days after your last report to submit another (RDTF-related) report in Oven Fodder. This should spread out the work.

Go ahead and work on the last release you requested, I signed you up for it.

There are quite a few shitty reviews for Enslaved - Frost.

I don't have time to go through them all right now.

It's been a little over a week now, I'll take Cryptopsy's "None So Vile", it's pretty heavy on reviews and I can think of a few that could use a good nuking.

Edit: Ok, "None So Vile" is finished, though the deletions are pending currently. I'll be back some time let next week to see what is still left.

I'd like to do:
Nevermore - This Godless Endeavor (18)

if no one has taken it. I went through looking for people who might have taken it but found none -- so i'll wait for Opening Poster to approve me for it just in case i missed someone

I know this was very late, but I'm finally done with WCFYA. I probably wouldn't have done it if it weren't for the reminder, so thanks for that Lana. When I initially picked it for the clean up, my mind was baffled by all the bad reviews so I left it off for later. Then, I just kind of forgot about it. So yeah, there's my excuse for being late.

Done with.

As a side note, I think we're crossing the rational threshold with this - I've seen numerous album with 13, 14 reviews; bearing the notion that a completed task usually diminishes an album's review count to these exact premises, 13 reviews seems like a perfectly valid number to me.

Number of reviews doesn't matter much, aside from contributing to the level of standards. It's possible that a review should be nuked even if it's the only one on the page. If we wanted to make a cut-off, the number would be arbitrary no matter what it is.

I see what you're getting at, though. I mean, if we don't decide on something, where does this "RDTF" thing stop? I think the weeding should continue regardless of review count, but wanting an end to it at some specific point is understandable. Returning to normal Oven Fodder activity after the current batch is even fine by me.

Any other thoughts on this?

Basically I would argue that our current stock is good enough. My initial impression was that anything above at least 18 reviews is probably crowded with either inferior work or outdated reviews that are, by consequence, also inferior. Naturally this isn't necessarily always the case, but most of the albums I've analyzed for this effort have had about 25% to 30% worth of nuke-worthy reviews after the mods gave their judgments.

Nailed it on the head. I mean - there is a point in time when valuable contribution to the site might turn into a mere nit picking, me thinks.

Also, we have a pretty massive batch to attend to now and only a few users who contribute, chances are that by the time we finish there would be a whole lot of other albums with too many reviews to prune through (maybe even the same ones we've processed will gather more reviews in the meantime and we would need to check them out again), so the RDTF might not end as soon as we might expect.

The backlog of RDTF stuff in Oven Fodder is pretty horrific at the moment-- I pity the mod(s) who end(s) up going through it all, I really do. The one-per-week-per-person rule is great in theory and all but this is still a horrible spike. I don't know whether regulating submission rate is really feasible though... Not a particularly helpful observation, but there it is.

Then let's just control it via number of reports. If more than a specified number of unanswered reports are in Oven Fodder, we should just stop submitting them for a while.

On an unrelated note, I just looked through A Matter Of Life and Death, and there appear to be no nuke-worthy reviews at all. All of them are at least decent. No wonder, considering the album was released in 2006, when standards for reviews were almost as high as they are today. I'll do another one instead, but considering the backlog ForNaught mentioned, I think I can wait a while.
