Yep, it does.
So what about the band Demonztrator?
As said in the digital booklet, link to which was posted by the band, their only digital self-released album is a compilation of covers to the Finnish bands from 1980-90s (pages 6-18).
So I'm eager to know why was it accepted.

Supposedly, CoffinFeeder is a death metal band from 1983 that released a full-length in 1987. I found nothing by googling any of their releases or their earlier name Cross of Doubt. Perhaps a mod could take a look and see what evidence was provided when they were first submitted.

https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Co ... 3540333656

The only indication I found that they are real is this guy linking to what was supposedly a review of "I Want Your Blood" which has since been taken down: http://thecorroseum.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7978

A few of us did some research on this one, one mod going above and beyond in contacting the original submitter who claimed to not even remember submitting it. There is no proof that these guys released anything valid. And all live videos posted are from post-2005. So... thanks for bringing it up because they're now toast.

Confetti, a "funeral doom" band from Malaysia, doesn't really have any discernible riffs in their music. Their second demo is on Myspace. If need be, I can provide a download link since I ripped the tracks from Myspace to listen to while I'm on the go.

https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Confetti/81144

https://myspace.com/confettiband

Just piano and vocals. If there is any guitar, it is extremely low in the mix. There are some moments I hear some guitar-like activity, but no riffs to speak of. I even blasted this damn demo at high volume directly into my ears and still I heard not a single riff.

Their first demo doesn't seem to be available anywhere in any form, and while that would be enough doubt for me to not even post about deleting this band, two of those songs seem to be the same as on Nocturne.

Why is Next to None here? I hear no riffs, all I hear is djenting, chugging, horrible emo vocals and occasional scratching(!).

Deleted Scymitar from Florida. Most probably no releases, added based on sketchy evidence.

When it was first evaluated, that track was brought up as the least metal on the album. While I certainly don't like the album, there were four mods who agreed that it was metal enough overall.

P.S. That song is complete garbage. The only reason they ever got signed is because it's Portnoy's son.

Hi there!
I'd like to know why the band called "wardruna" (https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Wa ... 3540272417) is on this website?
As far as I know, they absolutely don't play metal (and they never played metal!).
As this is a 100% folk band, we were discussing about this with friends yesterday.
Thank you for your answers! :)

I guess it might be someone's side project?

Oh, ok!
Non-metal side projects are allowed?
That's a funny rule, thnk you for the information.
So for example "coal chamber" would be accepted because it is a side-project of the Devildriver's frontman?

I'm not sure you know what a side project is.

We include a handful of non-metal bands as exceptions based on a number of factors, including (but not limited to) notability, historical relevance, belonging to the metal scene, etc. These are hand-picked by staff, and are extremely rare (being exceptions, after all). This case is a notable non-metal side-project by a notable metal artist. Under our rules, a side-project is a project created by an artist in tandem with their main project(s). Wardruna is one of the odd cases where it has grown to become the artist's main project, but is also undoubtedly notable and relevant to the metal scene in its own right.

Nothing to be eager about, I guess. Seems like a matter of oversight (on both the mod's and, in this case, the user's part). This needs some attention, though, hence the indirect bump.

It was also blacklisted, as I see.
I think it's excessive because later the band may issue an acceptable album.

If they do, just bring it up in the other thread and we'll gladly reassess it then.

Deleted Вихрь. The out of the only available discography that isn't Electronic/Ambient, the first demo is only has two metal tracks, and they are the shortest tracks, the rest of the tracks are basically the equivalent of that black metal interlude build up before the riffs, except as the full song.

Deleted B.X.M.S. from Russia. Various genres, no predominantly metal release. Some of it sounds like a mix of Edison's talking dolls, a numbers station, and terrible folk metal.

Vorak: https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Vorak/12313

Listed as "industrial black metal"... Metal elements are present but overall it's more like a big avant-garde/neoclassical/noise rock mess.

You can find both albums here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ELgjG323f8

I wouldn't really call this acceptable. Sound like nu-metal with a groove metal every very sparse while and solos.

why is this band on the archives? just 2 metal songs on a 5-track EP is not a "predominantly metal" release, is it?

That's a great find, Clanny! I have a digital copy of this (It's shit) and no further info - no artwork, ripper details, so forth. I'll try one final time to try and find anything further, but as it currently appears, you may have a case here. I will report back.

Beyond the Northwinds has been deleted. Other than the original submission saying that there were "around 4 copies only", I can find no evidence that this was ever sold or released online. I managed to find a track on YouTube, but that's literally it. Combined with the submitter being rather infamous from our early days, prone to confusing ambient with bm, and being 13 years old at the time, I am unable to find any reason to keep this on the site.

It seems all intruments for this project are programmed with Fruityloops (FL Slayer plugin for FL for guitars, BooBass plugin for bass, etc).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2hfYvVNDCU

Etc, etc, etc. Literally all the songs on youtube are completely programmed using software.

Should this be on Metal-archives?

In the past, some MA mods would have answered the last question in your post with "no", but I think the leading consensus nowadays is that electronically programmed "guitars" are fine as long as the riffs are metal and the overall impression is that of a metal band. See Master Boot Record and Grind.bot for a couple other examples of programmed-only bands on the website.

Yeah, the important thing is the "riffs" not so much whether they're real or programmed.

The "sticking point" for us is when the "riffs" are played on non-string instruments.

Thanks for clearing that up!

The main difference here is that this artist acts as if real instruments are used, plus the fact the artist has demos on the archive supposedly recorded in 2001/2002 (with an even earlier demo supposedly from 1999) where said guitar VST is also used.
The plugin was not available in the early versions of Fruity Loops (in 1999 this program was still a midi drumsampler).
The plugin was made and copyrighted in 2003, meaning that most of the early Zwetwezen demos simply could not have been recorded and released in the 1999 to 2003 time period.
Frankly, I think the project did not exist before 2007 when it was first added on the archives; basically during the Myspace heydays... I'll do some extra digging tomorrow!

I'm very interested in seeing what you will turn up on the legitimacy of Zwetwezen's releases, but I have to question your recent edit to the lineup role data... Unless you are absolutely sure that not a single real instrument is present on any of his many, many releases then I don't see any reason to exchange "all instruments" for "programming". You also removed his "vocals" credit despite there being vocals present in the very material you linked...

Please do and I am.
I have checked songs from every single record that I was able to find; most of his work is on youtube. So far all of them use programmed guitars, bass and drums. All done with Fruity Loops VST's, clearly audible except for a few where large amounts of digital distortion (clearly digital) have been used, still clearly audible to me, maybe less for others. This includes recordings where supposed other members handling instruments were present. Removing the vocal credit was a mistake.

Even if it seems reasonable, it isn't very wise to change those credits based on a conjecture, no matter how informed it is. I think "Everything" would work better here, and would leave no room for doubt. Or am I overthinking this?
