VESSEL OF INIQUITY - you rejected my submission as duplicate and kept another one still in the queue, however, as the band's label, my submission was the most accurate and complete with full release notes, band member info, logo added etc includes. it's dumb you rejected mine but kept the other one that has barely any info....

Spiral Void was rejected because it said the band hasn’t released anything yet. Didn’t I provide a link to the bandcamp page for one of the Spiral Void demos? Both demos were only released digitally but it even says in your criteria that digital releases are acceptable. So unless I forgot the link to the releases, I don’t get why this band was rejected.

It happens like that sometimes, we typically give submission credit to the first one in the queue. You're more than welcome to add all the other information.

That isn't what your message said, it said the band did not have a valid release. Digital only releases are required to meet a higher standard than physical releases. 12 minutes is not long enough to meet our criteria.

Hello,
Our band have been rejected two times but we really think it's a kind of mistake and here is our objection:
We already have a valid LP as a digital-only release (since 31.10.2017), lasting 42 minutes and available for online purchase in bandcamp.
here is a link: https://oldenwood.bandcamp.com/album/ol ... ly-release
We think this link must be enough for the rules of MA, and we really think there must be some kind of mistake with our rejection.
In our bandcamp site you can find all other official and unofficial links for the band, live videos and so on.
We hope our band will pass this time.We really hope.
Thank you.

I see no record of deletion or rejection.... do you remember the specifics of your rejection?

Non-metallic noisegrind. Blacklisted in mid 2015.

Uh... not sure what you mean. You can create a label page and add info/bands/releases to it. But you can't submit it per se.

A new label page is generated from the entry of the release in question. Locate or add the release, make sure "not on label" is unchecked and you will then be able to search through the existing labels. At that point you click "The label I'm looking for is none of the above. I want to add it.".

If the release in question is a re-release of an existing entry then please read up on how to use the "versions" function. Feel free to ask for help... Maybe in a more suitable topic though.

For clarification, if the label has no releases yet, then you can't add a page for it.

^ The riffs on that release seem metal enough to me. Poorly-produced, but metal enough anyway. Keeping in mind, too, they only have three short releases, so this split actually makes up a pretty decent chunk of their discography.

The staff and I do tend to disagree on subgenres like this, so it's whatever if you guys decide it's not metal enough, but I'd appreciate a look anyway :) Thanks

I have just registered here to add my band, but to my surprise we have been blacklisted for some reason... the thing is: No one of us has ever tried to submit anything to this site.
The band's na me is STRUCTURAL REPAIRS from Brazil.

Blacklisted late last year for being predominantly -core. The submitter wasn't a band member most likely.

Well, I see why you would think that. The band was in a very -core based direction before the bassist and I joined. So, the thing is, the band is moving towards a new direction. If you guys need proof of that, please be my guests:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ELfhTAsPF5k

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c999ya4vKqw

If you guess change your mind about the genre thing after hearing it, please, tell, how can I submit the band properly?

If you still think we're too whatever-core, I'm sorry for taking up your time.

Thanks for the attention.

Best regards,

Juan

Hi,

I would like to make the case for the UK band Ghold to be un-blacklisted.

Searching for a reason behind the blacklist yields this result:

Sludgy drone/noise rock. (in April 2013)

I believe this is a mis-categorisation.
Although they have been associated with the London Noise Rock scene they have always primarily been a Sludge/Doom metal band in the vein of Big Business or the Melvins.

In this article for The Quietus Louise Brown, former editor of Terrorizer and Iron Fist Magazine describes them as "crushing doom", "blood-curding, black metal", and "primordial sludge".
http://thequietus.com/articles/20250-he ... rand-magus

In 2013, the were given Terrorizer band of the day by renowned metal journalist Kez Whelan
http://www.terrorizer.com/news/botd/ghold-band-day/

and last year, 2017, both Team Rock & Decibel characterised their sound as Sludge
http://teamrock.com/review/2017-11-06/g ... bum-review
https://www.decibelmagazine.com/2017/11 ... interview/

I would argue that the weight of these opinions should be enough to merit their inclusion on this most excellent site.

Their sound, although complex and experimental, is a very good example of a resurgence in the London Doom scene which began in the early 2000's with bands like Ramesses whose influence stemmed from older UK Doom bands such as Electric Wizard and the new wave of USBM coming from Stephen O'Malley and Southern Lord Records. Later bands like Bong, and 11Paranoias explored Stoner and Psychedelic directions whilst Ghold pushed boundaries of noise, drone, and even black metal drum breaks. They have shared the stage with some of the biggest names in the Doom/Sludge scene, having played Desert Fest in London, and recently Fraternity of Sound in Athens.

I believe they have made a significant contribution to the UK Doom/Sludge and absolutely merit inclusion here under that genre.

Thanks!

Hello,
I'm trying to add my band on Encyclopaedia Metallum, but I don't know how my band is blacklisted. I don't understand why. Probably someone add us, but he wasn't a band member. The band is called EvolvE InsanE (Italy). We have realised 1 demo, 1 album and 1 video.
In this video I opened the first copy of our album.
https://www.facebook.com/pg/Vombix/vide ... e_internal
This is our video:

These are all of our links:

I hope you'll resolve my problem.
Sorry for the disturb.
Good evening.

1) How can my band be blacklisted before the creation of my account? Who added Evolve Insane last year?
2) There are a lot of metal band with electronic parts (Dimmu Borgir, Craddle of Filth, Ulver, Kovenant, Arcturus, etc...). In each our song there are 1 or 2 keybords' tracks and the other 20 tracks are not electronic.
3) You are the only one that doesn't think Evolve Insane are metal.
This situation is a joke or a candid camera?
I think your opinion is absurd.

Anyone can add a band to the site, whether or not you are a member is irrelevant.

I would like to know why Maléfice (France) is blacklisted. I think this is in reference to a different Maléfice, the one I was going to submit is Epic black metal. Here's a song of theirs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJTBbtbKcdI . Intro to the song ends at around 1:20 and vocals start at about 1:54. Very much in line with Summoning's style. They have quite a few releases and should be on here.

Well, the blacklisting note was for a hard rock/new wave band with the same name. Whitelisted.

Yes. It was blacklisted because idiots kept trying to resubmit it with only invalid digital releases.

I think your opinion is absurd.

1. MA is not a promotional platform for bands, it is a reference site. Bands don't "own" the right to submit their projects themselves; anybody can submit any band. I believe this is the impetus of much of your ignorance, you are expecting the site to be something it is not. This is also why MA is the most respected site in this field; no self-promotional crap, objective information ONLY.

2. Snipped from the first post of this thread, which you clearly neglected to read:
Spoiler: show
5. Comparing bands (don't)

This may seem like the obvious course of action in some cases, but be advised that we generally frown upon arguments like "you have band A listed and band B is similar, hence you must also accept band B". Please avoid this, as it comes with the following problems:
1) We simply do not work that way. Each band is assessed and judged on its own merit and trying to compare two distinct bands is treacherous business, even if they may sound similar. And if the two are indeed sonic carbon copies, perhaps the listed one should be deleted instead.
2) Since the site lists a (very) small number of non-metal exceptions, one might be tempted to use them as a reference point. However, these are exactly that, exceptions, and not subject to our guidelines on music.
3) Slippery slope. We do not want to base further inclusions solely on one or more listed band(s) that might be questionable or were wrongly approved to begin with. We would rather (re-)assess the proposed inclusion and the compared listed band(s) on their own instead of expanding a part of the database based around repeated instances of a resigned "we'll, we have this, why not this as well?". See item 1). To be clear, nobody thinks that we'd otherwise be doomed to ride into fallacy territory and in danger of including BB King or whatever, but we are quite strict about keeping the database focussed.
4) Most importantly, the Archives can in some ways be seen as a database of metal releases rather than bands. What that means is that in order to gain entry, a band only needs one predominantly metal release (ideally a full-length), regardless of the rest of their discography. This can result in bands starting out as metal, but changing to non-metal later or the reverse. More subtle cases exist, with bands being listed based on a (possibly lesser-known) fraction of their discography. So how does this connect to comparing bands? Well, it's simple: Since we judge releases, comparing band A as a whole to band B as a whole is a fallacious argument when one is actually comparing non-metal output of band A (accepted based on their metal output) to non-metal output of band B (unacceptable because they have no metal output). Consider it one level above arguing that band B should be included because they have a few songs as metal as band A's releases.

So again, each band is judged individually and we don't do the blind approach "A, hence also B". Furthermore, all of the bands you listed have at least one predominantly metal release.

3. No, he isn't. By the site's standards, your project does not meet the minimum requirements. If you want to be a child about it, go ahead.

Yesterday, I submitted the Indian Technical Death Metal/Progressive Death Metal band All Seeing Eye [ASE] for addition in the Encyclopaedia Metallum: The Metal Archives [EM:TMA] at:

https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Al ... 3540436206

My submission was rejected on the grounds that ASE doesn't have a valid release and I need to prove the same as per the criteria set for a valid release to resubmit ASE and I could appeal so in this thread.

My appeal is based on the following:

1. ASE released a single titled "Illusionist" as a digital track which is 3 minutes, 27 seconds long as per the information for the same on ASE's official Bandcamp account at https://allseeingeye.bandcamp.com/releases

2. "Illusionist" is a digital track available for streaming plus download and can be bought from ASE's official Bandcamp account which also has an option for buying the single/digital track using the 'Buy Now" and "name your price" buttons/options.

I, therefore believe that "Illusionist" is a valid release as per the criteria set by EM: TMA and this rejection should be reviewed in view of the appeal submitted by me and ASE should be added to EM: TMA.

Note: Whatever I'm stating in this appeal was already submitted in the form of notes for moderators view only in the add band form. I wonder why ASE was rejected.

Please approve my submission of ASE.

It's a valid release on its own, but for a digital-only band to be accepted, we need at least one release reaching roughly twenty minutes or more.

Is there any scope for this policy being reviewed so that bands/musicians who have released music, even if it's a single and in a digital format too are added to EM: TMA?

No. The policy is in place precisely to stop people from adding random shit that released one half done song and went away never to be hewrd from again.

20ish minutes of music isn't exactly setting the bar high either. Wait until they release something substantial or physical copies.

Full Length Album coming 2018

Thanks for all Information beforehand!
Have a nice day,

Is someone taking care of this reevaluation I've asked? :)
