The band O.I.E. has been rejected by the moderators for the following reason:
Quote:

"Hardcore, not a metal band; does not belong on Encyclopaedia Metallum. Please read (or re-read) our rules next time to see what qualifies as metal."

While the samples on youtube do not give very clear picture of the album's sound, listening to the full album tracks give the impression that thrash metal elements clearly dominate over hardcore parts. I myself was in doubts when I was listening to the samples: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=klUywfjEqCA but when I checked the most of the album I was convinced that the band is more (thrash) metal than anything else. So I am kindly asking the mods to reevaluate this band. Several songs off the album:

This was judged to be more punk than metal.

Another moderator and me agreed that while it's borderline, it sounds like it's more on the hardcore side of things.

That’s ridiculous... Impalers from Austin are listed on this site and are actually a 100% punk band. Smh, could list you 100 punk inspired metal bands on this site...

Read the first post about comparing bands, please.

This sort of motörpunk stuff can be tricky. Some bands make the cut, some lean more to the punk spectrum overall. I just listened to Loud Night and I'm not sure. Perhaps a case could be made, but on my own I don't want to whitelist them. I'll ask for more input from my colleagues.

Talked to two other mods about Loud Night. It's borderline as hell, but we decided to whitelist it.

Hey, Azmodes :) if you're still on, if it wouldn't be too much to ask to see about something, please? As I had inquired about a band, as well, about 4 days ago I believe...

So, there's this band called 夢遊病者 "Sleepwalker", that I had found out about a few days ago, but come to find out that they had been banned back in July of last year (I guess due to their first album). Anyway, what prompted me here to check about them was they had just released their newest album on the 25th, and their sound was very heavily reminiscent of Ploughshare, Fell Ruin and Tchornobog. While I know we're not supposed to compare bands I understand... but, this "sound" is what brought me to see if they were here to get more infomation on them; but to find out that they had been blacklisted.

So, I decided to ask about it here, and link to the new album, and was told that "Blacklisting was for not being metal, new album warrants a listen so we'll get to it." I am unsure what length of time needs to go by before asking again, so I hope that it doesn't sound like I'm trying to rush anyone. Only asking. :) Thanks.

Oh, here's the link to their new album, almost forgot to add that! https://sentientruin.bandcamp.com/album/-

I just checked it out and it's a smorgasbord of a lot of things, black metal being only one of many constituent parts. Some kind of blackish experimental noise music and not predominantly metal by a long shot. Another mod agrees.

I hate that they still won't be able to be listed on here; however I do appreciate you taking the time to check that out for me. Very much so.

I was looking to add a band to the archives but it showed as being Blacklisted. Interested to know the reason why. The band is Mylee's Dying Wish.

Is not a metal band per our standards, November 2017.

Some months ago I try to submit the spanish band Molbol but the admins rejected becouse they considered not enought metal to M.A. so it was blacklisted. Past week they release their first digital LP and I think is more metal than previous. Can you check it for incluiding on M.A.?

Heya, friends! I am just posting in an effort to contest the rejection of my band, Ghostbound, on the grounds of its perceived "lack of metalness". I daresay we more than meet the criteria on my end based on "Roof and Wall", specifically:

https://atmfsssdtp.bandcamp.com/album/all-is-phantom

I do realize that we cover quite a bit of ground outside of metal, but the guitar-tone and general attitude more than falls into the metal realm album-wide, in my book. I think we definitely fall into the atmospheric/quasi-avant metal realm in the Deadly Carnage/Alcest/Heretoir vein, for what it is worth. We are also labelmates with An Autumn for Crippled Children, Deadly Carnage, Forgotten Woods, Svarti Loghin, et cetera. Of course, my own definition may differ from that of the moderators, but my opinion is resolute :-)

Regards,
Alec

Hi!
It's said "Mothercare" has been blacklisted.
I don't have any idea why..
The band was a metal band active from 2004 to the 2015 with 4 released albums and several EP.
Distributed by EMI music and EDEL in Italy
Toured with Napalm Death and performed with bands such Nasum, Chimaira and others.
That sounds metal to me..

We don't care about what bands a band toured with, we only care about the music. That being said, the blacklisting is pretty old and suggests that it was made due to the band being more -core than metal. If you want us to have a proper second look, please link to a representative portion of a release (and not just 1-2 songs).

Hey, I just wanna ask why the doom metallers Wolvennest got blacklisted? I remember that I was adding it last year but it was rejected because it's "some doom metal, but mostly psych rock" but when you give listen to their new album Void and especially title song and L'Heure Noir (which is even featuring Alexander von Meilenwald from The Ruins of Beverast) it's clearly doom metal with some heavy riffs and black metal influences and the band therefore definitely should be here. Could you consider your last decision once more? It would be great to have this band here.

Here are the mentioned songs:

Can you fill me in on why Mylee's Dying Wish was blacklisted? Its kinda in the vein of Antagony/All Shall Perish.

Was blacklisted in November 2017 for being too far on the melodic -core side of things. Have they released anything new since then?

I know Archagathus has been brought up before but I'd like their blacklisting to be reevaluated specifically by their latest full length, Dehumanizer.

Humbly asking for a reassessment of the American band Battle Ruins on account of their latest release "Glorious Dead" and the 2014 self-titled LP:
Youtube: show

Youtube: show

They probably were rejected on account of their early work (the self-titled 2010 EP and demo) being way too Oi!/Punk-oriented. Their last two releases were much heavier; not a world away from Motörhead, really.

I think we'll keep Mothercare on the blacklist. More -core than metal, from the sounds of it.

Hi,
blacklisted in 2013 for the reason they haven't a valid release and by the link, they still haven't.
Thank you

I'm curious why "Auridius" has been blacklisted? I'm a member who joined a few months ago, and tried to add here as I didn't see us anywhere

I can't for the life of me imagine we're not 'metal' enough, so could you enlighten me?

Blacklisted as "post/prog sludgey rock" in 2013, and this seems to still be the case. Lots of wandering post-rock parts, some heavy chugged parts but not metal.

Sounds like mallcore with bagpipes to me.

I was listening to latest Antisect album and I can't help but notice these riffs seem to be metal based. Would this warrant a whitelisting? Take a listen here...

I was unaware this place held taste as criteria, and given your childish response not only to this, but to others I have seen, I really have no interest in pushing this further. Enjoy living in 1996 rocking out to Chris Barnes

My Death Metal/Grindcore band, Kathreptis (Colombia) was rejected, the first time because I provided a only track, the second time was rejected and blacklisted with the clarification that all the fist demo should be listened (in that time, we only had released the first demo in tape, we did not have it yet in digital, except for three tracks).
Today we can provide the first and second demos, there are in the following links.
https://youtu.be/ymAtOXRmSxE
https://youtu.be/BGc4g1NHh_4
kathreptis.bandcamp.com
Can now the band be whitelisted?

I was unaware this place held taste as criteria, and given your childish response not only to this, but to others I have seen, I really have no interest in pushing this further. Enjoy living in 1996 rocking out to Chris Barnes

He was quoting the blacklist note (which was written by someone else), followed by his own thoughts. Taste is obviously not a criterion (or do you claim that every single one of the over one hundred thousand listed bands has at least one fan amongst the staff?). Doesn't mean that we're emotionless automata that always stick to the facts, especially since the blacklist is not publicly visible. :P Anyway, just focus on the "nu-metal" part here, which was the ultimately deciding factor.

So, I understand Fvnerals were blacklisted for being too shoegazey... that being said, after hearing their full-length Wounds, I really think they are worth having on here. The bulk of the music on their Wounds album consists entirely of funeral doom and drone metal riffage. Yeah, there are some quiet droney interludes, and the exclusive use of clean female singing lightens the load a bit, but it's still very much a doom metal album to my ears. There is quite a bit of doom/post-metal stuff (doomgaze, whatever) that this would fit in with... I won't drop band names, because I know that's obnoxious. Point being, this is a doom/post-metal album if I've ever heard one.

Youtube: show

EDIT: I understand the EPs prior to it are definitely more slowcore sounding stuff, but this is much heavier than that material and sounds more like a typical funeral doom kind of release.

Hi guys!

The band I was trying to add was considered by one of the mods not metal enough. I just write for the clarification sake that Raudiv may be often mistaken with the techno project called Raudive.
I'm aware that this band is of course not entirely metal, but there's definitely a lot of metal stuff into it.
If you want to be that meticulous then here you have some riffs:

If the problem is that the demo is not enough to be listed on metal-archives then I'm totally fine with that. I'll try to submit band after some bigger realease.

Cheers!

Heya, friends! I am just posting in an effort to contest the rejection of my band, Ghostbound, on the grounds of its perceived "lack of metalness". I daresay we more than meet the criteria on my end based on "Roof and Wall", specifically:

I do realize that we cover quite a bit of ground outside of metal, but the guitar-tone and general attitude more than falls into the metal realm album-wide, in my book. I think we definitely fall into the atmospheric/quasi-avant metal realm in the Deadly Carnage/Alcest/Heretoir vein, for what it is worth. We are also labelmates with An Autumn for Crippled Children, Deadly Carnage, Forgotten Woods, Svarti Loghin, et cetera. Of course, my own definition may differ from that of the moderators, but my opinion is resolute :-)

Alec

Hey all! Just circling back on this. I never received a response. Thank you!

Hello,

"Snowy Shaw" (Sweden) has been blacklisted as a band. The guy has gone solo, and released his first album in may.
He had already toured under his own name, covering songs from his previous bands. He even released a live album with that material.

Maybe the covers were the reason why he was blacklisted? If so, his new album White is the new black is 100% original metal material.

Or is there another reason why there is no band page with his name?
