I'm generally not one to question the blacklist, but may I ask why Silent Difference (Japan) is blacklisted? If it's metalcore, it doesn't sound like any metalcore I've heard before.

Blacklisted for being a Touhou band. Basically, a glorified cover band based around the music from the Touhou series, none of the songs have an original basis and are just re-arragements of songs written by ZUN.

Ok, that makes sense. I didn't know they had no original material, thanks!

All the videos linked are from their more recent material. I would say the The Brutal Language, Throat Full of Heart, and A Southern Revelation would be the most acceptable releases though. The band has those releases available for free download on their Bandcamp: https://myruin.bandcamp.com/music

Was any decision made about them yet?

Well, these two were released on 28 Feb 2017, so I don't know if that was considered in there or not. These both seem acceptable, compared to the other ambient releases he's put out:

-Nature Above Man
-Supra-Satanic Sovereignty

For comparison sake, the rest of his discography:
-Modulus Of Destruction (30 Jan. 2017)
-Throne Of Ha-Satan (split with Satanicommnd, 30 Jan. 2017)
-Anti-Escória Black Metal (31 Mar. 2017)
-Zerkleinern Der Unteren Technologie (31 Mar. 2017)

All albums listed here were released digitally, and on 20-copy CDr runs by CVLMINIS Records.

Edit: Actually, now that the album is available on Bandcamp and I'm listening to it again, it feels like there's way more metal material than I remembered. I think they deserve getting whitelisted.

As for the blacklisting, it's because their demo only had 4 minutes of metal on the second track. I know this because I tried submitting them when they released the demo.

It isn't public, although if you put a band name into a submission it usually gives you a prompt, or you can ask here about something specific and/or why.

Hey!

My band member (who's really good in english plus in reading rules) tried to submit a crappy phone made demo million times here which made our band (Organ Grinder FIN) banned here.
We released last weekend a proper EP and I would want it to be included into Metal Archieves if it's possible. Cheers!!!

I have no idea what to make of this new Mutoid Man album. I guess I could go either way...? Need to listen more.

I've only skimmed it, but sounds like the blacklisting from May this year still applies.

Metal or not, considering the recording quality, it's probably not an acceptable digital release anyway. Best to wait for a proper studio full-length.

Link? Be aware that the band was actually blacklisted for musical reasons, not because of the release.

TSIR, Azmo and myself heard the Mutoid Man album and while there's metal elements, we don't think it's a definite metal album. There's a lot of punk, grunge and rock in there.

Hello!,
I love the work Encyclopaedia Metallum is doing - so, thank you for all this effort in the metal community, I love it!!!

I was going to list/submit my depressive black metal project here as well but it says it was rejected - Kotha (from Italy) - could you please tell me why?

I have a physical and a digital release - plus I think despite it may not be strictly black, it surely is "metal" enough :)

The band Cause for Effect from Finland is blacklisted. I know they describe themselves as Jazz(fusion)/Grind (which is listed as not acceptable in the rules), but at least on their 2000 album "Fast Material" they still have a guitar player, less Jazz influences and definitely play riff-oriented music that I would describe as "metal".

See:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-cmf5BndvI

The rest of the album is done in a similar fashion.

Fair call. The studio album that I put forward as a good example of their degree of metalness was knocked back for not being metal enough when I made the submission. Could I get a second opinion?

Can you guys reevaluate Cave In? I haven't seen any posts here regarding them. Despite their later material being alt rock, their early material is the more metallic style of metalcore

The blacklist note is pretty old and useless. Do you have any links to the release(s) you think qualify/ies?

My first impression is that it's pretty metallic, but that this doesn't constitute the core sound.

It sure doesn't, but since I've noticed that bands that play in the same metallica style of metalcore were added only a few years ago, I've thought that Cave In would pass. Their compilation is a bit more metallic, but their first full length seems like it's on the metal side of core as well.

I think what Azmodes meant is that metal doesn't make up the majority of the sound of the albums you linked. I was confused when I first read it too.

Sorry if that came across as confusing. I simply meant that metal doesn't seem to be the basis of their music, i.e. the core sound (not to be confused with the -core sound, though in this case the two appear to be the same :P).

I just checked out this album and I don't think it's acceptable. Primarily jazzy grind noodling.

We don't judge based on live recordings, and half the split is ambient.

Someone tried to have Exist reevaluated like four years ago when Sunlight dropped and I recall that someone here said that they would give it a listen and then never got around to it. Now that there's a new one out, can someone reevaluate them for real? Yeah, there's definitely a lot of later-era Cynic-sounding stuff, but there's also more than enough death metal to balance it out to at least a 60/40 distribution. You can listen to both full-lengths here:

Just saying that Sunlight was evaluated, because the blacklist note includes a mention about it also being unacceptable. Also, this refers to that album.

Anyway, I'll check the new one out soon. EDIT: Nah, same ol', same ol'.

not sure if this is right topic for this (redirect me if i'm wrong),
but can you please tell me do you consider this band acceptable to add?

if you say "no", you'll spare me of effort in trying to fill all band adding sections, thank you.
