Other than Metal Archives, where else do you go online? What other sites do you spend your time on?

I'll kick it off. I tend to go to Bandcamp to check out bands and material to review. Same is true with Discogs. I occasionally check out Reddit, usually just going to a few subreddits (/r/worldnews, /r/askreddit and /r/citiesskylines). Don't really care for that site otherwise. I have subscribed to a few "Let's Players" on YouTube, so whenever they upload a new video I might go and watch it. I have Facebook running in the background to chat with people who refuse to chat using anything else. I don't use Facebook otherwise; in fact I have most people set as "acquaintances" and so they never really show up on my wall. I regularly go on job postings sites to see if there's anything worth putting an application in for. And other than that, I sometimes check out old haunts now dead (usually gaming forums) to see if there's any new content and posts. How about yourself?

Since I doubled down on learning my synths/music production about a year ago I spend the rest of my online time on various music production forums, namely Vintage Synth Explorer, Gearslutz and KVRAudio. Also jump on craigslist/ebay occasionally to see if I can snag any good gear deals (once in a great while you'll get someone who thinks their high-end analog synth is just a cheap kiddy keyboard). And then the odd LP'er as background noise if I just have 5 minutes to kill/while getting ready for work/etc.

Cool thread. I'm almost always on MA if I'm online but if I'm not I'm usually on Blogger to check up on my blog and possibly post a review. I have Facebook running under my Elitist Metalhead page because I have a shitload of bands liked so I review that just to see what's going on. Usually I'm on Wikipedia, Ancient Origins or other sites that have historic information...I'm a history/information nut. Oh...Bandcamp is a MUST!

Other than MA I check Facebook a couple times a day to see if anything's going on or to talk to people. I also usually have YouTube open to check out random bands that I come across. Other than that I go on NWN! forums for some more metal related chat (although that forum's more of a promotional thing rather than about discussions), and WarSeer to get my nerdy love of wargaming on. I'll almost always be listening to something through iTunes.

I kind of just stick to the big names like youtube (about 8 or so channels I stick to that supply weekly content, plus interviews, music), facebook (usually try a link posted in my newsfeed), metal archives, reddit. Twitter if I'm really bored. Besides that I like to read scripts for films (unmade scripts I find especially interesting), short stories, watch whatever high budget cool documentaries that are available, read up on trivia and browse the discussion section on IMDB. We minored in film, screenrant, den of geek, io9, film school rejects usually have something good to read. I'm also into history particularly lost cities, ancient wonders and WW2 mysteries.

Reddit (Dota 2) and youtube, either watching funny videos or listening to music. Some of my favorite YT channels are Conan O'Brien's and Cinemassacre. I only keep Facebook open so I can talk to some people, other than that, I don't use social media that much.

at the moment it seems to be cricinfo.com, because cricket is love and life. Otherwise, facebook and youtube- by and large cricket or old concerts. Trying to cut down on my internet usage (and feel like I've generally succeeded at doing this)- if i'm passing time at work it's ok, but I don't want all my free time dominated by it.

Usually here, Bandcamp, Youtube (these days I'm watching The Bible Reloaded, it's pretty good)... and I think that's it. Sometimes I check out gamefaqs for walkthroughs, gamejolt for indie games, whatever has nerdy programming stuff and not much else.

My time's divided pretty evenly between here, Facebook, http://slovnik.cz, reddit (/r/badlinguistics, /r/subredditdrama, /r/languagelearning, and related topics), Discogs, and Czech news sites.

Facebook, YouTube, The Escapist (video game forum) and Planet Suzy (porn forum) tend to be the main ones, besides here of course. I also sometimes spend long times reading on various random shit on Wikipedia. Nothing too interesting really.

I used to spend a lot of time on Last.Fm as well, but there's just a lot of really odd people on there for some reason. More or less drove me off.

I'm with you, Derigin, regarding some of the subreddits. Most of it is shite but some subreddits are cool. I follow r/photography, r/todayilearned, r/gadgets, r/redditgetsdrawn and a few more (Okay I'll admit, I spend most of my reddit time on r/aww and r/gifs). I'd say I check reddit maybe once a day. A major chunk of my time online is on twitter. It's a tab which is constantly open. I follow a bunch of interesting people, friends, news, culture/political/tech websites and a few metal-related too. Apart from that, I have a subscription list on youtube, which usually comprises mostly of talk shows and some vloggers. Occasionally, I'll also go searching for interesting longreads or novellas.

Various forms of pornography, the weirder the better.

Nah, the above is only half true. I subscribe to a lot of journals on Facebook so I spend a lot of time reading about current events or politics, just scrolling through my feed and opening whatever headlines grab my attention (no yahoo news or dailymail, don't worry). Sports and music and gaming occupy most of my time, especially Star Wars expanded universe lore and BPL football news/replays.

Honestly, before I started using it I thought the concept a trite laughable but Twitter truly is a godsend for news. Follow the right accounts and you'll get a smorgasbord of news you won't easily find or that gets completely buried in the news cycle. Obviously, you don't read the tweets for the news, it's the links people put in the tweets to offsite reporting. It's an excellent way to find news outside the English language as well. And a lot of beer havens will tweet out releases or tappings of new brews when they come out, so it's great for beer too. You can replace "beer" with whatever your favorite tipple is if you want, Twitter is good for all of them.

Mostly though it's Facebook for social stuff and music, Youtube and Soundcloud for music, and Beeradvocate for obvious reasons. And here, both for music and shooting the bull. There's various blogs I follow for news as well, most of which I found through Twitter.

Checking my RSS feeds mostly. I read a fuckton of webcomics. Gotta start a webcomic thread someday. My RSS feeds also bring me updates from The Escapist (I only really care about Yahtzee, Critical Miss and the news), a handful of political blogs and a German satire mag among other things. Lately I also watch a lot of animated shows online. When I'm really bored I check Facebook. I stopped going on Imgur because I'm pretty sure that site makes you retarded eventually with its endless stream of brain-corroding memes, clueless politics and product placement.

I only spend time on Bandcamp to check out new music that has was linked on Facebook or here.

I spend a lot of time on /mu/ (the 4chan music board). Mostly because of their broad taste in music, also their care free attitude which gives me a place to just be a goofy as I want.

Tumblr is great. I spend most of my time on there these days. I run a blog that is mostly repulsive, funny, explicate, and sometimes thought provoking images. I also rant a lot which is great because I love writing.

Youtube. I'm on it all the time watching a video of a favorite song, or occasionally my subscription to the needle drop.

Steam and skype are where I keep up with my close friends. I at least one friend I talk to on a regular basis which I am very thankful and fortunate to have.

Tinychat because sometimes I just want to have some free interaction whenever I have no one else to talk to.

Sep7agon. An off shoot website of bungie.net (the development website for the Halo video game series). Some people decided the old website turned to shit and wanted to maintain the feel of the golden days of bungie.net, so they created sep7agon. I used to go on bungie.net a few years ago, now I am a regular on this new forum.

I spend a ton of time on last.fm and rym.

I really like websites where I can get connected to people. I need more of that in my life.

I used to post on noise forums a lot, but I haven't done it much in a while.

For some time now, I've used lastfm and discogs more than anything (which reminds me, I need to upload some scans on Discogs today). Sometimes I will go on imgur binges. Looking at user submissions is often a good way to kill time, but it's not something I look at every single day. I check into a few private tracker sites about once daily.

I've been using Bandcamp every day for around 2 months now, because I'm attempting to upload a minimum of one crappy noise track every day until I get to at least 100 tracks uploaded. I've mentioned this here before in another thread, but I am trying to compete with Sloth for having the most net releases on Bandcamp. Outside of that, it's been a great excuse to force myself to dig through five years worth of digital recorder files and recycle them into shitty noise-mud for Bandcamp.

tumblr mostly - then I go on wikipedia and look up a country or geographic area and just start clicking on stuff and before you know it I'm reading about the weirdest shit. Facebook a lot, and twitter to get news updates, then actual news sites and a couple of DC neighborhood blogs. but I get the vast majority of my info off of tumblr, so it's there and here.

- Metal Archives forum for the latest news.. and for the eternal jumping from page to page in the encyclopedia...
- Blabbermouth and Metalsucks for the same reason....
- Facebook also for the latest news updates on the bands I follow... I almost do not post any shit like stupid status updates and memes etc... I just.... read stuff.. and hope there's not too much dumb shit posted by others on there haha
- Youtube
- Deathmetal.be forum... Belgian extreme metal forum in... 'English' (to serve as a middleground for people speaking French and Dutch, equality above all). Local metal news and a very good gig calendar with pretty much all the metal gigs in the country...
- Last.fm the only place where I do troll a bit.... but have to be careful since the last.fm police is watching on almost every page from any known artist :-P
- Letterboxd: for reading movie reviews... checking out the latest hyped up films... and posting reviews and adding movies to watchlist... Very handy and cool looking site!
- Netflix: last I binge-watched the entire Lost series.... Occasionally I watch a movie but I usually torrent... or put on a dvd/blu-ray... yes... buy the movies you like you bunch of freeloaders !!!
- ... and since they do not have the X-files series on my Netflix version I stream that shit on other sites currently.... so many episodes... holy shit!
- and now that Imentioned the X-files I like keeping open a wikipedia tab on the episode info, just out of curiosity what fans and critics think about certain episodes and for trivia....
- music download blogs for the eternal hunt for more cool music
- ebay: keep an eye on items and buying stuff
- discogs: keeping an eye on cool shit and eventuall;y hopefully managing to buy stuff at a reasonable price...
- HLN: Flemish news site

Feedly has completely changed the way I browse the web, everyone should use an RSS reader. I have it organized into categories:

News (Gawker, The Atlantic Photo blog, Wonkblog, Seattle Eater, various local blogs, NYT Media, etc.)
Metal (Angry Metal Guy, Decibel, MetalBandcamp, Invisible Oranges, Metal-Fi, No Clean Singing, etc.)
Comedy (The Onion, XKCD, various tumblrs/comics, etc)
Music Industry News (Hypebot, Bandcamp Blog, Digital Music News, etc)

Every day there are more than enough posts to occupy my time, and it ensures there are very few stories I am interested in that I will ever miss. Reddit, Facebook, Bandcamp and Metal Archives are pretty much the only sites I ever directly visit anymore.

I'm a big fan of Facebook, it's easy to follow everything you like there but here's some websites I like. I used to visit last.fm a lot but I deleted my profile for good recently. I won't include any porn websites but I may or may not use one related to a hamster. For torrents, I dig kickasstorrents, Rockbox and Demonoid! I used to visit many metal review websites or blogs but not that much anymore.

For hockey news:

http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/
http://www.nhl.com
http://www.dailyfaceoff.com/
http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdis ... ?pid=99420
I also have a fantasy hockey team on Yahoo with my university buddies, it's awesome.

Some more favorite websites, I probably visit these everyday.

So, do you work for Feedly or what? TBH, I don't see myself ever needing such a thing, but thanks.

Me? I have this really cool BAR in my browser that holds bookmarks, and there's honestly more of them than I even care visit with any regularity in a year's time.

Besides MA (homepage!), I regularly visit:

- Hells Headbangers to scan latest arrivals/window shop
- Star City Games to read articles/listen to podcasts/window shop
- Forums for my local game store (Atomic Empire)
- Twitch to watch MTG and Dota, mainly a couple of MTG players
- LiquidDota to find a link to a stream or read an article
- LastFM mostly to investigate bands/occasionally post
- YouTube to sample albums/watch concert footage/MTG matches
- Facebook for the typical reasons

I'm always on Facebook. It's the easiest way to talk to all my friends. I also use Hulu Plus and YouTube a lot. I check my e-mail a few times a day. Wikipedia and dictionary.com are always open; I like to learn stuff constantly. Dictionary.com has some cool quizzes that help expand my vocabulary. Google's an obvious one.

Twitter, mainly. I do use last.fm a bit, but I don't socialize much on there (its not much better than youtube shoutboxes). I see no point in involving myself in any other musical community than here these days.

Other sites I use:
-RPG Codex: I don't have an account there, but I do lurk there.
-TSN: Mainly to keep track of what's going on in baseball.
-Monochrome Heaven: No account there (and no intentions to change that), but I do periodically get translated news on some Japanese bands I listen to. Too much visual kei for my liking...
-Lords of Pain: Even though I don't watch wrestling much these days, I still feel the compulsion to follow it.
-Blabbermouth.net: Not sure why I still bother with that site, but I guess I feel the need to stay on top of things.
-CivFanatics: Haven't been as much of a fan of the Civilization series lately (Firaxis kinda shat the bed with their last offering and I FAR prefer 4 to 5), but I find that site to be a valuable resource.
-Noppin/Yahoo auctions: No greater high than hunting down rare/obscure CDs.
-Ebay: I use it more for selling than buying these days - but once in awhile I find something I want.
-Various distros (mostly Japanese these days).

Youtube - I always find myself browsing through videos on youtube. Found a lot of great bands that way over the years. I also look at sports a lot, particularly tennis videos.

Facebook - Yes, I spend a lot of time on there and am an admin in like 5 or 6 metal groups. I mostly use facebook for chatting with friends though, usually through my phone.

News - I mostly use the apps on my phone for this but I frequently look on here as well like CNN or something.

Besides checking my mail and this website, here's what I check out everyday:

www.zerozero.pt - the best site about football/soccer out there;

www.abola.pt - a portuguese sports newspaper;

www.wikipedia.org - for obvious reasons.

Believe it or not, I also for some reason used to frequently check out Metapedia! ;P Not so these days though...

I check out the website for our local sports team, and spend a lot of time checking out various stuff on Youtube. Those are probably my biggest internet time wasters. That, plus CNN for news. And sometimes I'll dive down some rabbithole researching some rather obscure but interesting topic I come across that strikes me as interesting- old TV shows, weird local history, strange events, and so on. I don't have a Facebook account and so I spend only a minimum time browsing other public facebook pages, maybe if I WAS on facebook I'd never turn off my computer, ha ha!

I'm here fairly regularly as well, and since I'm less than an hour from the physical store I mean that online as well as in person. I'm a judge for MTG so I sometimes judge events there on the weekends to pick up a little extra cash and someone I know from other stuff always seems to be working there. Cool to find another Magic nerd 'round these parts, though I know there's a couple others lurking since the subject has come up in #metal a few times.

I tend to spend the rest of my time on the internet on Youtube, something else MTG-related, or pr0n.

I've been on-and-off of LiveWire for the past two years. It's basically like the FFA thread replicating itself on a non-metal forum full of >21 year-olds, with the occasional shitty metal topic.

Other than that; it's mostly Youtube, Facebook, and various news sites for me.

I believe it's spelled prawn. Though I don't see why gross little waterbugs have any Internet space dedicated to them :puke:

i spent the vast majority of my time on facebook. other sites i visit are cracked.com (usually a few times a week), i do the daily crossword at guardian.co.uk, i stream a lot of tv through youtube, i read online news at the ABC australia, sydney morning herald, bild, and nordwest-zeitung, and i also use a lot of stuff like whatsapp, quizduell, etc. also kinda obsessed with google maps - i could spend all day just looking around on google maps. it's so addictive.

It depends. There really aren't many websites that I visit on a daily basis. Youtube is definitely one of them, though. Lots of good videos and channels there to kill time with.

For sure! I'll be attending the open in Richmond this weekend for the Legacy 5k. Feel free to shoot me a pm if you are going to be hanging out there.

I hardly venture off of the IRC channels that I'm in, they're where all the cool beings live.
