What do you guys think of 8-bit metal remixes. As an avid gamer, I feel like if it sounds great in 8-bit, it has to be epic. A lot of melodeath/power metal sounds like it is tailor fit for epic NES games.

IMO a good rule of thumb for me is if it doesn't sound like an awesome videogame soundtrack in 8 bit, it isn't good prog metal :p

Hangar 18 sound like music for the final level of an 8-bit side scrolling shooter :-D

Don't waste your time in doing so - it completely sucked imo...

DJ'd one time and played opening of 8-Bit Freezing Moon before blasting out the proper one, just to piss off some of the miserable fucks in the club.

8-bit metal is all about the combination of the epic old school gaming vibe with metal.

So if I recorded some covers with a banjo on a wax cylinder you'd be into it? :P

Maybe it's because I've never owned a console. I cant see anything epic about a plumber chasing a gorilla.

If it sounds like the banjo solo from Stone Cold Metal by Ensiferum, I'd enjoy it.

I personally love 8 bit metal when it's a very melodic song. Some of my favorite 8 bit songs are Sonata Arctica - unopened, Deicide - Homage For Satan, and Ensiferum - Victory song
