I never had allergy issues until about three years ago. Makes me wish I had still had my twenty year old immune system...

I'll be in your area for Memorial Day, Wilytank. A couple people in my family camp at Friendship Village every year. I stop by for the fly fishing and the beer.

Not in this case, and thanks for telling me to "think about it", it's appreciated!

I made a crossword about the romanization for my class yesterday, it's pretty fun! I hope my internship teacher will like it. I would share it with you guys, but it's in French and it's easy anyway.

I know the place, been there once visiting friends of the family stayed there once. I don't fish though. I'm up around Altoona every week anyway doing my auditing job in two Wal-Marts, occasionally stopping by a nearby hobby shop to play 40k as well.

Which hobby shop? The one near the mall or the one near the Jaffa? For the largest city in the area, Altoona is pretty beat...

No problem. I was worried you might forget to. I'm kind of a condescending prick, you know?!

I used to play D&D, I usually would die in crucial fights due to my bad luck of attracting critical hit towards me, that or the DM wanted to piss me of

In that case, you'd hate playing 4e with us. Lair Assaults guarantee you die within a few rounds, and Encounters pits your level 3-ish characters against level 6 Elites and level 7 Brutes. You die horribly either way.

I still have nightmares about the moat house. Those murder holes, man. Those murder holes...

^ same. I used to play "absurdist" D&D (DM was basically was schizo/whatever and used his godhood for strange and miraculous events - sometimes smiting, sometimes saving, sometimes just having crazy stuff happen) and it was an absolute blast. You just went with it. It wasn't as HxC as regular D&D but it was so much fun.

If I do drop by the store, it's on Fridays (designated 40k night), though the last few times I've been there the 40k scene was kinda slow. Maybe because Friday Night Magic is going on at the same time. Though last Friday I was there, I did see a larger number of players who didn't play but were taking peeks/drooling at the new Tau codex (it seems no update in 7 fucking years is a big deal for the third most popular xenos army), but only two games were played (one was mine).

YES! I remembered that they had a new one about three weeks ago and was pleased to it's apparently getting released tomorrow. Hope it gets in the US on amazon/ebay/record label/wherever the fuck so I can get it ASAP ( I got The Murder of Jesus the Jew online but want a physical copy this time.)

Glad to see so many other Meads fans...I thought The Murder of Jesus the Jew was absolutely phenomenal; an avant-garde album that made all the "additional" genres work together rather than just haphazardly slapping them together (which Meads were admittedly guilty of occasionally on earlier albums, too.)

Has anyone heard their Welcome to Planet Genocide EP? You really start to see the direction they took on Murder come together there, plus a few delicious punk-influenced tracks.

@UnderStarmere: Glad to see I'm not the only one to catch the show! Clint Mansell is my favorite film composer, The Fountain is my favorite album (and soundtrack), and "Death is the Road to Awe" is my favorite song. I literally cried from the second the song started until after I was out of the theater (not exactly of sober mind, by the way :D). Needless to say, it was utterly astounding.

The Meads of Asphodel... can't decide if racist or just deliberately offensive...

inhumanist, you should read this: http://www.themeadsofasphodel.com/?q=node/101

He doesn't seem racist at all, he just seems interested in the subject.

Ah, that's enlightening. :) I really wasn't sure. They don't seem like your typical NS band at all, but then they have really irritating lyrics like Jew Killer.

The Meads of Asphodel are not racist at all. "Jew Killer" is about how guys who kill Jews are assholes. Killing Jews is something they are against.

Sonderkommando is a risky album name for a black metal band, considering how easily bands in that genre are wrongfully labelled as NS.

The Meads of Asphodel is hardly a normal black metal band, and probably not black metal at all anymore, but I think the genre has much potential for researching themes such as the holocaust musically merely in terms of the sheer inhumanity of it, ignoring the political elements altogether.

all post war politicians have let us down badly here, they have sold us out - closed down our heavy industry, sold most of our assets abroad, amongst other things...

something happened/was agreed after WWII that the public don't know about, I'm sure of it.

Not exactly sure what to say about Thatcher's death. Privatisation of state-owned companies, a brutal war policy and a rigid authoritarian rule on a democratic country is never good, but to say that a person like that deserves to die. No, that's not right at all.

For all her horrendous policies, she was a person. I'll leave it at that before I say something offensive.
