What do most people think of when they hear the word "race"? Does race exist or is it just a figment of our imagination? How relevant is race within the fabric or our society? Is race still an issue today or is it becoming a thing of the past? Lastly, why do you think that metal's audience is so overwhelmingly white and so scarcely black? What is it about having light skin and colored eyes that makes a person attracted to a certain sound of music?

"Race" is non-relevant, and a fictional concept, is science is to be believed (which is what more people should do). As for why most of metal's audience consists of caucasians..... No idea, though there surely are some cultural reasons attached to it, such as the fact that metal originated from outfits composed of white, working-class males, and still does to this day, for the most part.

I love that the reviews for the new Dying Fetus get abbreviated on the front page of MA as "Wrong One to Fuck..." Sounds like a remorseful concept album dealing with John Gallagher's experiences with STIs.

well metal has decent popularity across the globe mostly in fairly developed countries. It long stopped being music for white people.
Also it seems that in the US a disproportionate amount of people who form bands are from a hispanic background...

I just showed a black man this. He said:

"Black folks don't like metal because it sounds like crazy white boy music."

I think he's absolutely right. Metal does sound like crazy white boy music.

Metal in general has a kind of "outcast" community vibe going on.
I don't believe in race or color of skin but from a sociological standpoint race is ethnicity

Y'all do realize there's a difference between whether race has a biological basis (it does not) and whether it has a sociological basis (it does), right? I foresee this conversation going poorly...
