Saw Testament on NH7 Weekender in December. What an experience that was. I may be 6' but Chuck Billy is a friggin giant. A really cool and down to earth giant though. :-D

So, What about the girl, you wanted to nail her? :-P

Testament are definitely one of the finer symphonic metal bands, for sure.

Yeah, they definitely sound symphonic metal in Siberian landscapes while taking a shit.

Does anyone know any distros that stock Weird Truth albums? I want to get the new Funeralium but fuck they're expensive. Upwards of $25 for it after shipping, which is offensively pricey.

I used to like 'Risk' as well in fact I still like it to some extent. :-P It has quite a few songs seem to fit Bon Jovi's 'Slippery When Wet' record. I like that album. So, I don't mind 'Risk'. My favourite Megadeth album is probably 'Peace Sells...' followed by 'Countdown to Extinction'.

Nowadays, I only like Prince of Darkness from that album, which is a decidedly dark and sinister ride. The rest though? The rest can die in a hole.

I don't think the Bon Jovi comparison helps, by the way :-P

I just don't know how you can say that about Don Doty. He was evil as fuck, the other dude looked all buff and stuff but Doty was a better singer than him and better than a large majority of thrash vocalists.

Aye, though I also like Ron Rinehart too. His voice sounded just as buffed up as him.

Maybe so, but you won't see me agreeing with that. I love that album's commitment to pure, skullcrushing intensity.

I agree about the intensity but I prefer 'We have arrived' to 'Darkness Descends' on account of it being more raw. DD isn't bad. I like songs like 'Black Prophecies' which are such long thrash epic songs. It may seem to be overrated NOW because everyone mentions bands like Dark Angel, Morbid Saint, Vio-lence...in the same breath when any talk of 80s thrash pops up.

You called them watered down southern rock. I compared them to real archetypal southern rock bands. They're as much "southern rock" as Amorphis is "symphonic".

It's a testament to how nicely put together the album is that they can manage to stretch out two tracks to the length of an hour and yet never once dip into tedium.
Makes me remember that I haven't heard much talk of Moonsorrow on the boards for a while. It seemed like they were enjoying a popularity wave a while back. Should look up Verisakeet again.

Agreed, V is an extremely immersive album. It grabs you and won't let go. Say, what do you think of Tulimyrsky?

Soooooo The Casualties are playing with Goatwhore in my hometown in the next couple months. I wanna know who the fuck it is that books shows at a venue called "The Alley" and give them a nice stern talking to about life and making good and bad decisions.

It's definitely better than that turd of a tour which has CoF, the Faceless, Decapitated and the Agonist.

Its actually my favourite Moonsorrow album, great melodies, vocals, agressive while not losing the typical viking styled glory and wonder, truly one of my top albums ever. tulimyrsky was very good, but unlike V had.some dull parts to fill up the half hour, and all the rerecordings and covers are great. Definitely try out Veriskeet, its not quite as good as V, but it has some wonderful moments and the same excellent sound. Pimea is still aboit the catchiest thing I've ever heard.

I second all of this right down to the Pimea comment. V is an incredible album and it still catches me off guard how damn epic it gets at points despite how many times I've heard it. I've never sat down with all of the title track off of Tulimyrsky but I remember being somewhat bored watching the abbreviated version they played live a few years back.

Another deployment down and hoping it's my last one as an active duty member. It feels good to be home, though my very kind wife decided that it was going to be my duty to take our cat Clover to the vet for her teeth cleaning... that went over REAL well. I suppose it is fair seeing as how she surprised me with a new television and Arkham Horror for a belated Christmas celebration. Now I just have to round up some folks to play with.

So the area has a winter storm watch for Friday, possibly 6-12 inches of snow + 0.25 inches of ice, plus a ton of wind, plus not being able to see a damn thing. Oh shit

Yeah, in my area they said we're only likely to get 'small amounts' which is usually code for we're fucked.... we'll see I guess.
