For any of the fellow Deep Purple fans out there. I'm sure you've seen some of this footage chopped up into individual segments on youtube. I didn't realize until last night someone had uploaded the whole god damned DVD. Copenhagen, live, 1972, incredible quality.

The same user also uploaded a full concert set of Mercyful Fate playing the Dynamo in '83. I haven't watched it yet but I'm pretty excited to check that out.

Damn, got to check that Fate stuff as soon as possible. I heard a couple of early live recordings and they really had a great and special feeling and sound to them...

I really don't have a worthy follow up to my last post. I'll disappoint everybody and say that I didn't actually say this just prior to the act, I was talking to her on the phone, I won't actually be able to see her for a few days. In all seriousness, this girl and I have a sour history and I shouldn't even be thinking about her, let alone fooling around with her, but hey, I'm lonely and prone to poor decision making.

But with that said, she thankfully has a sense of humor and met that line with a reaction other than offended rage, so go me I guess.

Well, I just split up with my band last night. Are there any guitarists or drummers interested in playing traditional metal a la Sabbath, Maiden, Hell, Mercyful Fate, etc. in the Chicago area here?

Man before I even made it out to a show? Weak. Just irreconcilable differences?

And I'm no help for the search unfortunately, but still.

Basically. I'm not going to go into detail here out of respect for John and Rich but, yes, we couldn't agree on something and it was a dealbreaker.

Fair enough and understandable. Only band I was ever in ended because of a deal breaking disagreement too, it sucks.

Let's not include bands which names you can't pronounce without getting a Cerebral hemorrhage. :-P

I hate hearing about band breakups. It makes me feel like shit considering all the opportunities you guys have to have a cultural input which you just throw away, when all the groups in my area are post-hardcore scene bands.

I actually memorized Paracoccidioidomicosisproctitissarcomucosis's band name (I didn't copy-paste that) a few months ago and I'm pretty sure I know how to pronounce it as well. I'm pathetic. :(

I remember when Call of Duty: Black Ops first came out, my friend said that there was this guy who played the game for 4 straight weeks, maybe longer. Don't know how he found out.

I think the term that people use these days is "no life".

We can't compare these two situations. Some people are good at memorizing names, no matter how long it is, it can be interpreted as a sign of intelligence. Playing video games non stop is not.

This is somewhat true to me. When I'm introduced to someone, i remember his/her name almost instantly. Kind of scary, though.

Just to provide a worthwhile detail: yes, there was a dealbreaking decision involved, but it was overall a "good" break. As in the guys can still laugh and share a beer and all, they're just not working together any more.

In related news, I'm in on keyboards/backing vocals for this other project thomash wants to put together. DOUBLE ARCHIVES POWER GO!
EDIT: but don't worry, I won't ruin the Maiden/Sabbath/etc. worship with my wacky antics, I'll be good and keep it true.

I understand your frustration but I would like to interject that I did not just 'throw away' this opportunity. The reason I left is because I refused to go along with a decision that I am certain will eventually kill the band. In my eyes, I've just left a sinking ship.

Also, I can confirm that Ribos is on board for my new band. No, we will not be a Sigh worship band. :-D

That makes me sad. I wish Sigh worship was something that existed. Or maybe not... I doubt many bands could pull off anything close to what they do.

Well, what would a Sigh worship band actually be? Copying their general craziness or one of their albums in particular? Anyway, from the bits I heard of the album, I'm a bit doubtful. I'm sure it will be better than Scenes from Hell, and I heard some pretty sweet passages, but others didn't impress me. A bit too much of the bombast I didn't really like from their last two, plus some kind of weirdness which I don't particularly appreciate, felt almost videogamey. But well, I haven't heard the whole thing, there were just bits that I didn't particularly appreciate, and those were practically non-existent before Hangman's Hymn (which I still like).

Anyone heard the new Grails album "Deep Politics", freaking amazing! This band never disappoints, one of the best instrumental bands ever.

Kind of a lot of shitty news in the last page or two of this thread :( Next we'll find out that caspian hasn't been posting recently because he finally took some brutal piece of mining machinery straight in the chest. (Though I take it his bones are about as thick as baseball bats, so I'm not sure it wouldn't take more than that to take down that particular Australian. Come to think of it, a number of Aussies haven't shown themselves around here in a bit. They can't all have been killed in a cave-in.)

We eat kangaroo all the time, mostly caught with our bare, sun-browned, muscular and manly hands. We also have crocodiles as guard dogs.

Also, CrushedRevelation, You should use the crocodiles to hunt the kangaroos...

And if you're in the company of women, you might even cook it first.

EDIT: Fuck....FUCK. FUCK. Slugathor's Echoes from Beneath is so goddamn excellent and tastefully executed it's retarded. Absolutely one of my favorite death metal albums to date. I love how it doesn't try to reinvent the wheel at all, but does everything precisely the way it needs to be done to create a subtly unique and evocative experience. Classic status must be conferred.
