Also, can someone tell me why I can't send a message to give my vote for the AOTY thing?

The reason for that is that we require newly registered accounts to go through a reviewing process, owing to the incessant barrage of spambots the site and forum receive. Normally your first two forum posts would need to be reviewed and approved by a mod first and you can't send PMs until you've crossed that threshold. I've manually moved you to the group of approved users just now, so we don't need to go through all that. You should be able to send PMs now. Welcome.

Hello everyone, i'm 26 and Italian.
I'm completely new here, so i look forward to learn about more features of this site. I've been a huge fan of metal since i was a little boy, i've grown listening classic heavy metal bands like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and Metallica and during years i became particularly passionate about death metal and black metal. Music for me is very special, it helps me navigate through my emotions and it heals me when i'm severely depressed.
Speaking of other topics, i like videogames, i love anime, manga, sushi and everything that is Japan-related and i'm also bisexual (yes, i'm a lot of things :)
Hope to have a great time with all of you people!

HELL(O),

I am in my fifth decade of my life. I listen to metal since I was teenager.
Over the years my hearing has “developed” and figure out that doom/death/black “mix” with folk/symphonic/melodic/soprano... are the most beautiful, painful and exciting music.
Metal is my love. And I do not know how would I survive without this amazing music!

Because I’m listening to extreme underground “scary” bands I don’t have friends that really can or want to understand what metal is all about (“just noise and screams”). In the gym I am the scary guy in black. Well fuck it!

"You're welcome my children of the Night
to my world of chaos...
sanity is just a weird form of madness...
open your pity souls
and taste the power of my dark spirit…"

The ashes scattered in the mists of time and space
the blood spilled in the meadow dried since long ago
how I long to own such power
perhaps I will obey the dark spirit's call

Hey fellow metal fans. It's great to have discovered this place this is the kind of community I been dying to be part of, I even made my own sites and forums similar to this when I was learning to code but those sites never ended up being used so I just let them go.... But this place is obviously a success so yeah, glad to be a member here.

Donc, oui. Bonjour.

I introduced myself in another thread last week or something but have came across this so I would like to say hi.

I'm a 34 year old from the UK who has been a metalhead for nearly two decades now, my tastes have evolved I used to be a big Opeth fanboy before they changed their sound and listened to Scandenavian melodic death but have become closer to the doom/black metal scene especially in the last few years.

Hello, people!

I have a few questions as I am super-new here. I attempted to add a new band and apparently someone else had the same idea. The message I got was "...is already present in the queue".

1. Does that mean that it has been submitted waiting for approval? (Is there, actually, an approval step?) Or does it mean that the user is currently writing it, literately at the same time as you?
2. If the user has not finished writing the article about a band, I suppose it can be saved right? But does that mean that it is in the queue or someone else can add the band regardless of the other user's saved article?
3. If the saved unfinished article about the band is in queue (the first of the above two cases) and no one can write about this band, what happens if the first user never returns to complete the process and add the band?

Sorry for the many questions & thanks in advance!

Welcome.

It was submitted to the queue (i.e. changed from draft to pending) by another user earlier and is currently pending moderator review. There is no need for multiple submissions of the same band in the queue.

Hello everybody, don't really know what to write here so I guess I'll spit ball something
I'm from the hellhole known as Western Canada and I really like bands like the Misfits, Venom and Bathory. The Misfits is what got me into "harder style" music and at I'm kind of thankful that I get to talk to one of my friends about the bands previously mention + Mayhem. I'm really here just to talk with others and maybe find something cool to listen to.

What is the average time it takes for a new band addition to be reviewed by a moderator? There is one pending for at least 12 days now.

Hey, friends, as you can see, I joined a loong time ago and have just lurked the absolute fuck out of the forum for....12 years, haha!
I'm 54, Aussie and got seriously into metal about 1982 when I bought The Number Of The Beast. Before that it was hard and heavy rock, AC/DC being a lifelong favourite. Favourite sub genre would be Thrash, with a touch of Death and very occasionally Black, went through a long phase checking out Black Metal and ended up deciding I'm not really into it all that much, except for the occasional blast of V: Hävitetty, or At The Heart Of Winter just for shits and giggles.
That'll do for now, I reckon.

I'm Pentalarc22. I was on this site before as just Pentalarc a long time ago, but apparently that was with an email address I no longer know. So 22. Long-termers here might remember I was the guy who had the bassist in my band who threw his bass and amp off of the roof of his house into a pool when he had a new bass. . . but no new amp. I also was going to also tell the story of the "Lead Guitarist From Hell in a Bad Way" when I disappeared. (I have recently refererd to them on another thread. Same guy that wanted everyone else to switch to black guitars and yelled "You don't *deserve* a humbucker!!!" to me."

I've been into heavy metal pretty much since I got into music long ago, though more specifically I got into current music due to an artist/band that likely no one admits to liking here. (Nirvana, go ahead and boo. Yes, I'm probably older than you. GO ahead and boo. Done? Cool.) But my main genre will always be heavy metal.

Originally from New Orleans, my main genres are sludge/doom etc, but also into just about the rest of everything in metal, with a taste towards the . . . more dissonant side of things. Secondary metal tastes industrial metal, groove metal, black metal, death metal, and things that combine those. A music nut in general, tending towards anything sad/experimental/noisy/angry/ugly/depressing/broken/fucked up/traumatic etc. Also listen to classical, especially Mahler and the Russian Five, and also plan on writing a symphony at some point.

I fell out of making music after my life fell apart. I have recently gotten back into creating music, keeping a promise I made to my wife after her death. (Yes, recently widowed)

Chthonic pagan, much more the urban witch than the commune with nature type. Formerly standard grumpy leftist, now extremely grumpy leftist. Zero interest in NSBM or its ilk.

Somewhere on my computer I have all of the lyrics for every TAD song in preparation for the day that TAD is allowed on the archives, which will probably never come.

I'm also sarcastic, and my problem is I think I'm funny.

Hi there! I'm Ralf Zimmer, an expert in the casino industry and a passionate lover of metal music. With a deep commitment to both fields, I bring a unique perspective and energy to everything I do.

During my free time, I fully immerse myself in the energy and power of metal music. I'm a devoted fan of bands like Metallica, Iron Maiden, Slayer, and many others. These bands inspire me with their talent, passion, and the sheer force of their music. Attending their live concerts allows me to completely absorb the atmosphere and energy they bring to the stage.

Sorry, I just saw this thread, although I already posted on the Metal Discussion page.

What's up, everyone? I'm a lifelong metal fan from the southern US. I work remotely for a film company, editing subtitles and promo materials, and writing movie tie-in novelizations. I'm also a novelist and screenwriter, although not a famous one. My favorite bands are Iron Maiden, Enslaved, Mercyful Fate, Carcass, Judas Priest, High on Fire, Crowbar, Candlemass, Obituary, Alcest, and just a ton of stuff across the metal spectrum.

I'm a big horror movie nerd (which is nice, since the movies I work with primarily fall into that genre).

Hi I'm 33 yo, male from Finland. I've been listening to Metal since 2000-ish if I remember. First Metal band I discovered was Metallica. Nowadays I mostly listen to black, death or thrash metal. I also like noise, ambient and dungeon synth type stuff aswell as classic heavy rock from the 60's and 70's.

Favourite bands are Rotting Christ and Graveland.

I've been to a few concerts and festivals. I try to go to 1-5 shows/ year.

Good day. At the moment I am 26 years old. I started to be interested in metal at the age of 13, although I can't say that my level of knowledge is good enough.

Most of all I prefer melodic death-doom and black metal (more with an emphasis on the pagan component). I also listen to power metal and death metal. Favorite band - Theater of Tragedy. I also love Rotting Christ, Enslaved (their early albums are no longer interesting to me), Kawir, Paradise Lost, Moonspell, Morbid Angel.

Interested in history, mythology, prehistoric animals, old movies, and anime.

Hello I am Demis from Leipzig and now live in Berlin. I listen to metal since the early 90s, then it started like many with Sepultura and Slayer, later then mainly black metal. That has kept until today even if I no longer keep it up all day :D

Hey guys! I'm a 26 year old guy from Sweden who's never posted here before (although I've lurked a fair bit...)
Since heading off to a certain university town famous for its hardcore and metal scene I've started to become interested in metal again after being kind of "out of it" for several years. I had my start back as a young teenager with listening to In Flames and after that it's just gone downhill. I can now proudly announce that I'm a full-on black metal (and adjacent genres) fanatic. In my spare time I'm working on my own solo project as well as writing for my main band which I'm happy to say is featured on this site!

I'm looking forward to chatting with you all.

So, another Swede. I got a notification that I had showed up on a page at Metal Archives, and lo and behold there I was, with my band listed and full discography and everything. The internet can be a wonderful thing, and clearly the people who hang out here is what makes it thus.

I am more towards old-school heavy metal, but listen to a lot of other stuff too. Expecting to be hanging out here. Good to meet ya!

Hello everyone, I'm Censoria. I'm a 32 year old housewife/stay at home mom living in Western Europe (originally from USA). I was super into punk, metal & hardcore as a teenager, and then, for a while, I tried to be really normal and restrain myself. I lived my teenage dream of being a perfect conformist, and I've now since returned to the genre: primarily black metal, death, war, thrash & goregrind, in that order. I wanted to make an account because I love tracking my media consumption habits, and I just started listening to Pungent Stench & fell in love, so, I was like, I need to read reviews and maybe someday add one myself. It's also just nice to be around like-minded people! ^^

My name is Yarrow and my admiration for metal music was forged in the melancholy void beneath the grey veiled skies of Salem, Oregon, USA.

Some of my favorite metal bands are Wolves in the Throne Room, Hole Dweller, Forhist, Paysage D'Hiver, Urfast, and Nortt.

My first experience with metal music was watching bands like Hell play live house shows as a youth.

I'm always looking for new bands to listen to that drown the silent screams of existence.

Thanks for having me :)

My name's Lauren Ortega and I'm originally from Nashville Tennessee.

I discovered metal as a teenager as a means of self-expression. I'm an out and about lesbian and turns out denim, leather, and learning to play the guitar did a lot for the self confidence of a short pretty nervous hispanic queer girl.

I'm mostly pretty private but I've wanted to get involved what seems like a pleasant community united under a love of heavy metal. And if it means I can also dab into other passions like SFF literature on the side then that's just all the more better.

I like practically any and all metal! Ranging from death, to doom, to black, to power, to honestly whatever? I just love the medium and I can't get enough of it. Though I came to the genre specifically through thrash(with a fondness for the teutonic bands like Sodom) and came to REALLY LOVE classic NWOBHM for the energy and style(Iron Maiden is unsurprisingly my favorite band of all time) but I listen to a lot and I'm always eager for more.

I just realized I've had an account on this site since 2007 and never posted before tonight. I've been listening to metal since the mid-90s, and I can find something I like in most metal subgenres. I like variety so I'm constantly seeking out new music. I'm most drawn toward toward metal that is atmospheric, melodic, or experimental/avant-garde. I have a bit of a preference for deep or growled vocals (with many exceptions!), and I have a soft spot for the violin/cello. I also like a lot of non-metal, with dark folk, ambient, classical, and hard/blues rock being some of my other most listened to genres.

64 year old black metal fan, Atheist/Satanist, I love anything that's dark, evil, death related. I feel like I belong every time we(my wife) visit a cemetery, I could spend hours there.
Halloween (Samhain) is my favorite time of year. I've been going to shows since 1980, the first one was RUSH, and I still go to shows whenever I can(clubs).
I've been to 3 shows so far this year, HYPOCRISY, DARK FUNERAL, and BATUSHKA. Planning to see INCANTATION and SUFFOCATION in November.
Huge fan of BEHEMOTH, WATAIN, INQUISITION, MARDUK, EMPEROR, IMMORTAL, BATHORY, etc.

Hi. I am doing some reviews & site contributions at a hobbyist level. I don't really like anything about metal, except some of the music can be insightful in a brutal way and powerfully expressed.

I guess it would be polite to introduce myself, so here it goes. I am a 43-year old engineering manager working in 'Big Tech' and listening to metal on a daily basis. Having entered the world of music with the wonderful sounds of Sentenced, Anathema, Paradise Lost, Katatonia etc... it will be no surprise that I am mostly interested in gothic metal and adjacent genres. I also seem to have an aversion to metalcore and djent.

Old 1980s headbanger. Started in the 1970s as pre-teen listening to Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, etc, then graduated to Black Sabbath Maiden, Priest, etc, became Dio fan and early Manowar (and everything else for love of Eric Adams' voice) then quickly to Speed then Thrash, then decided early/mid 90s was not for me so spent a decade listening to classical music. Returned to metal in early 2000s, listening to the records of the same old bands.
With pandemic I discovered Black Metal through a younger relative; started going to concerts again, mainly small venues. Life is interesting.

Nice! Sounds kinda like myself, to be honest. Deep Purple was a big thing in my circle of friends, and while I mostly skipped Sabbath and Priest due to lack of people who listened to them around, Dio was dfinitely a really big thing.

Welcome!

Hello y'all, I've been browsing this site for a while and only just made an account the other day. I'm 17 and there's nothing I love more than heavy metal music \m/. I got into metal a few years ago when I was mostly listening to old school punk which led me to find stuff like Cannibal Corpse and Amon Amarth which I quickly fell in love with. Since then I've grown to love almost every metal subgenre, but my favorite is traditional heavy metal/NWOBHM. Some of my favorite bands are Judas Priest, Black Sabbath (especially the Dio era), Witchfinder General, Cannibal Corpse, Wolf, and Megadeth.
