Whoah, man you must have a seriously powerful camera.
I'm trying to picture a banana next to it for scale [how big is a spore?] ha ha

Nope, I have a Canon Powershot G6 that I got for $100 on ebay, I've been wanting to get a better camera for a while, but ofc I dont have money for that... With the right lighting and through the use of manual settings you don't need a good camera for good pictures. A tripod helps a lot with things that don't move in dark locations like mushrooms, not so much for bugs (Flash works great for those). And spores vary in size based on the species, here is an image of the spores from the Leotia. For the size, the range was spore range was 17 – 24 (25) x 4 – 6 μm (micrometers) and the average was 20.55 × 4.95 μ (From 20 measured),

Image

And now two unrelated bugs.

Boisea rubrolineata (Western Boxelder Bug)
Image

I think Brochymena sulcata (One of the rough stink bugs) is promising.

Thanks! The first picture is one of the lakes within the mountain range - one of the tracks goes beside it. I went for the steeper climb which got a little tricky when at the peak due to the paths almost all snowed over (as shown below)!

see the head land rocks in the first one, that's a great snapper spot. But i'm saving myself up as i am going to Great Barrier island in a couple of days where there is some of the best fishing in the world, especially in march which is snapper season over here.
Its for my honeymoon.... but you know i packed the rods

I wonder if that pretty arch style door was just a cost-cutting exercise back in the day (why get enough metal to go head-height at shoulder-width when you don't have to)

Lucky you, who has this amazing landscape at walking distance. Great pics.

I always wanted to do some shots at sunrise, but sleeping is just way too damn good for me to bother to wake up at 5.am

This was in the Rhine River Valley in Germany, not too too far from Frankfurt, I suppose. This was actually a youth hostel I stayed at some years ago, interestingly enough. It was once a castle that had been turned into that, which was really a pretty cool concept. The best part about it was that the whole place overlooked all these vineyards.

From what I can remember, it was actually a pretty normal-human sized gate. I think I remember taking this at a bit of an angle, as to better fit more in the frame. Maybe it seems a little bit small because doors and whatnot really were made a bit smaller way back when, because people in general were smaller. At any rate, I'm 5'9/175cm in height, and I wouldn't have had any trouble fitting through it. At the same time though, I'm not sure if this gate would have actually lead anywhere or not....just look at that drop off!

Ok, I see. I was SURE this could not be US! LOL!
It's quite common here, in Europe, to have hostels in old buildings near the old town of the cities.
Some of them are REALLY cool!

Oh heavens no! There's really not much of anything of interest in the US, especially where I live, unless you happen to like pictures of swamps haha.
I took this when I lived over there, and the more I look at it, the more I want to move back to Europe :(
