Nice ones, guys!
This one made me remember I have to go to a similar place to take some pictures too.

Ok, the sea is been quite savage here lately (we can't go out for diving):

Oh! And I was in the mountain (long time since last time I went):

Some time ago, I went to see the sunrise from the same mountain too:

Do you live in Haines, Alaska by chance? I recognize the town in the photo, but I've never been there; I've only been to Anchorage and Fairbanks, and I have been absolutely craving a chance to go back up there ever since. There is no other place in the U.S. that has scenery as spectacular as you have up there.

Hey man, this last picture is such an awesome composition. Would you mind if I used it as reference for a painting for my landscape painting class?

Where is it by the way?

I was watching a program last night about the life of sherpas and their buddhist lifestyle. They can only work a few weeks, or so, a year on the mountain, these shots look so similar, (except there were no trees).
I always thought sherpa meant porter but it doesn't, it means people from the east.

No, I'm up in the subarctic in a little place called Delta, 100 miles towards Canada from Fairbanks. It's maybe 40 miles from really jaw dropping scenery in the Alaska Range, but I find the open, nearly uninhabited rivers-lakes-forest-tundra-distant mountains surroundings totally inspiring.

Image
That comm tower in the distance is in the center of "town." There's really not much here...

One of my winter projects is to somehow come up with a way to get the word out that this place is a hessian heaven. I very frequently get a very strong feeling that Alaska would be a happier home for many lower 48 misfits I've known who are frustrated with modern, overcrowded American society. Occasionally posting pretty pictures on metal-archives is not effectively summoning the heathen hordes.. In the meantime, I'll just say: get up here. It's the shit.

And yes of course any of my photos can be used as a guide for painting. Just send me a scan of the finished product if you would - I'd find that interesting. I guess I should say don't re post the photos without credit, but I honestly don't care too much about that kind of stuff.

Haines will be my next vacation destination- wait till next summer!. I've got some buddies that work in the fish processing plants in Ketchikan, just a couple ferry stops to the south, so that will also give me an excuse to go up that way. Plus I think they filmed that TV show, "Gold Rush Alaska" up in that area somewhere- Porcupine Creek is somewhere northwest of there I think.

Yeah, southeast Alaska is beautiful. Haines and Skagway are the only towns I've spent any time in down there, partly since it's just as easy to get all the way to Seattle as it is to Juneau and the other towns off the road system. I did take the ferry all the way from Haines to Washington one year though. Really want to spend some time in Juneau, Sitka, and Petersburg (Viking festival in May!).

A request: could everyone who use spoiler tags group all the pics under one tag, so we don't have to click so many times? Thanks. :)

Boreal amazing shit man, makes me want visit Alaska! Nice work there too Marag. Some of those sky shots are incredible. Lastly to bloodycumshit, get your ass to NZ's south island!! It's a truly amazing, beautiful, captivating place - I fell in love with it, and wish to revisit soon (and possibly live there).

Pretty sure Marag's from Chile, BCM.. It does have a similar sorta feel though doesn't it. Loved your most recent photos by the way.. The idea of maybe getting a teaching gig on the south island of NZ next year is on the list and being considered :)

lol, this must be the 3rd some kiwi asks me if my pics are from NZ. I'm on the other side of the ocean. I'm brazilian, and the pics are from Argentinian Patagonia. Some parts of South America does have a similar feel to Australia/NZ

Really cool photos btw. the one with the totem looks way too cool.

Love the mood of those photos! Sometimes I think I need to make it a life goal to move to a place like that, just for sake of my emotional health. Fuck the city and its crowds.

Remember Australia and nz are totally different countries, there wouldn't be much more opposite landscapes

....amazing photos btw, love how jagged those mountains are. Can you see the Aurora Australis (southern lights) from that city? You can see them in the south island here sometimes.

SA is a big place, you get everything from deserts and equatorial forests to subantarctic landscapes

I didn't see any while I was there, but I'm pretty sure you can. You are better off asking someone from Argentina.

This wee turtle was recently hatched and making its way to the water... it took a long time crawling in the sand, threatened by frigate birds, but we cheered it on and it finally made it. It was an epic struggle! :puppy:

Do they get sea elephants up in Galapagos? Females with their sons are the cutest things ever.

Pics don't do it justice. They were bigger than the boat, and as curious to see us as we were to see them. It was mating season and you could even see a bunch of them having the sexy time.

Your photo's are simple and not of anything majorly spectacular, but a lot of your photo's give me a euphoric/atmospheric vibe for some reason, really like the first one

Thanks guys, One of the reasons I post so many pictures (most are average) is it hopefully encourages others who know they can do much better.

I enjoyed that very much, and catamaran was a good choice of music!

This thread is nice and almost ALL pictures have something for me.
Thanks! A friend of mine was supposed to edit the video using the 50 Million Year Trip (Downside Up) song but my first (and definitive) idea was Catamaran. It fits REALLY well!

I plan on doing it for sure. Maybe this weekend, it depends on if any my friends want to join me or not, and when they would be able to go if so.
