I'm honestly surprised they were smart enough to put Fear of the Dark on there.

I only agree with two of those; Painkiller and Fear of the Dark.

Take out the grunge and Marilyn Manson and it's a pretty reasonable list tbh. Thought considering all the mall metal on here in surprised they wouldn't pick Christian Woman or some other TON.

I forgot how great Davidian is. Let frehdum ring witta shotgun bllaaaayyssstttt :guns:

Painkiller is the greatest metal song of the last 400 years.

"Rooster" certainly does belong on this list along with a few others. Most of these aren't even metal. A Slipknot song that finishes number 1 sure says a lot about the quality of this survey though.

Personal confession: I've never really liked Painkiller.

It always feels like it's trying way too hard.

I'll go for a softened version of what you just said: I think Painkiller (the song) really does deserve the praise, but the rest of the album is average at best, a yawnfest at worst.
The super-scooped production starts to grate after about 3 songs and it's faaar too long.

1. Who reads stuff by people who's frame of reference would ever produce such a list?
2. Just like with stupid stuff like award shows, halls of fame, Rolling Stone Magazine lists, etc., why bring it to a place where even those of below average metal knowledge knows way more than those institutions, just to implicitly or explicitly say "look how bad this list is"?
3. If list threads by knowledgable members here tend to be frowned upon or locked, why allow a list thread based on some stupid site/magazine?

I've go to admit, I've always enjoyed The Beautiful People. Mostly for the "ooaaaahhhh" part.

A few of those picks aren't even the best song on the album they're on, IMO.

Sad But True is probably about average for The Black Album I think, and I like some of the slightly lesser known songs like The Struggle Within more.

Stinkfist is probably the 'correct' choice to be track #1 from Aenima, but if you wade through all the annoying interludes there are better songs after it. My personal fave is probably 46 & 2.

Hangar 18 is a concert favorite for Megadeth, right? To me it's at best average on Rust in Peace. Holy Wars, Tornado of Souls, and the title track are all better.

I like Burn My Eyes more than most people here, but I've always considered Davidian a bit overrated. This is another case where at least half the album is more enjoyable to me.

I'm surprised they put some actual metal on the list, which it could have been worse. At least there's no Limp Bizkit, Soulfly, Kid Rock, Cypress Hill or Paparoach.

They chose literally the fucking worst AIC song ever. Angry Chair, Man in the Box, Would? or Bleed the Freak would have been so much better choices.

It's a pretty decent industrial/something album. They had the potential to do a quite fine industrial metal album.

Glad that "Painkiller" made that list.
"Hanger 18" is certainly a good song.

Some decent rock n' roll stuff on there but...these are the top 20 "Metal" songs?? They may as well add a Smashing Pumpkins, Green Day or Weeser tune on there, too, then... (yeah I do like those bands.)

I really have no constructive comment on a lot of the tunes on that list, so I'll just stop here.

No wonder this "metal" rag was on the verge of bankruptcy.
