i'm not sure which of the brothers it is, or how he hooked up with him. but i know that Nogueira was around for some local MMA matches, and they've been doing some stuff together for a little while now.

still, a chance to roll with Nog, little or big...what an opportunity. your brother must have some serious talent to catch the attention of a fighter of that caliber. is it a one on one or small class kind of thing? or more like a large group?

There's a Nog Bros, Couture, and ATT all within 3 miles of my front door.

Too bad that gif doesn't show the bones popping out of Fedor's hands because he throws punches like a fucking idiot.

Fedor busting up his hands is probably a habit to him these days. He certainly is content to swing wild ones.
Did the trick though.

I don't think it would be a problem. The ATT is very serious, I'm sure, the Couture gym advertised locally as a family-friendly type deal, and I've watched a bunch of fat losers roll at the Nog Bros. on multiple occasions, and it's a tiny hole in the wall in a shopping center with the local Guitar Center in it, so I don't think it would be any problem going into any of them. For my money I'd go with ATT, no question.

Big Nog sick with a serious staph infection (out of UFC108), Lesnar out indefinitely with mono and undisclosed illnesses, Carwin undergoing knee surgery, Mir suffering from an acutely inflamed ego.

UFC HW division looking tame for the first half of '10.

I just read about Lesnar. the guy is a serious jackass in the cage, but I hope it's not as serious as Dana White made it out to be. hopefully Cane can get some fights and some experience in while most of the big dogs are shelved for a while.

I don't know squat about Mono, but from what people on the MMA forums are saying, there is a chance that he could be out for a year, and will lose a lot of weight.

My favorite fighter is Fedor Emelianenko BTW.
I LOVE MMA, and have been following for quite some time now. I started off watching the older shows in the mid 90's, but at that time it was more of a passing interest-type thing. I got into it more recently as a constant in 2003 or so, and have been stuck to it ever since. Favorite fighters are probably Forrest Griffin, Marcus Davis, Mike Swick, Wanderlei (even though he hasn't done shit in his last 6 or so fights) Silva, Anderson of course....the list could go on for some time.

Anyone see Dynamite 2009? I only saw a few fights. Gegard Mousasi vs Gary Goodridge. What I expected. Mousasi dominating. Stoppage seemed a little early. Overoid performed as expected too.

Dammit Sakurai, don't lose to Gono! Argh!

Typical beatdowns by Mousasi and Manhoef and Overeem. Aoki was pissed at someone or something, was it Mizuto?

I think he may have just been on an adrenaline high. Not too sportsman like to flip off an opponent after the match, especially when he is writhing in pain from the broken arm you just gave him.

I've seen rumblings of Soko vs Minowa being fixed.

For a guy who won round 1 against Mousasi to be TKO'ed by the scrub killer seems odd.

Soko did what Soko does...came out strong and faded in the second round.

So does anyone know the deal with Rampage vs Rashad, is this going to happen any time soon? Obviously Rashad is fighting Silva at 108, but what about after that?

According to Dana White, it's going to happen if Rashad defeats Silva tomorrow.

Also, what channel did you guys watch Dynamite 2009 on? Do they show them on PPV or something? I'd really like to see it.

The fights were on youtube the next day. That is where I watched them. I thought about doing the internet live-stream..

Yes, but Soko usually gasses because of how he pushes the pace. He didn't this time. He really didn't even try.

Not to be a conspiracy theorist, but I can't help but think Mousasi dropping out of the SH tourny had to do with it being fixed.

Well, he did beat on Minowa. I thought the fight was going to be stopped at one point during some ground and pound.

It was revenge for beating his teammate for the Sengoku belt.

Poorly dubbed Kung Fu movies > Boxing > MMA

Not shitting on their skill as trained athletes. I can't help but notice a lot of drama and terrible sportsmanship in MMA but the former is probably just a result of TV cameras.

Watch as much MMA as I do and the "poor sportsmanship" is rare. That's why it's such a big deal, because it's the exception rather than the norm.

As for drama, well, what do you expect from a reality tv show? TUF (which I assume you're talking about) is retarded as hell. I like the fights, and I occasionally like the behind-the-scenes view of some fighters' personalities, but overall...

You're probably right. I haven't watched too much MMA but a lot of what I did watch was peppered with trash talk and in-ring shenanigans. IDK though. I like to watch standing fights as opposed to sweaty ground humping, no offense to anyone currently training. Shit's still brutal though.

Some of the most exciting fighters are ground specialists, in my opinion. Dustin Hazelett, Ronaldo Souza, Rousimar Palhares, Demian Maia, Shinya Aoki, the afore-mentioned Satoru Kitaoka, and many others are dynamic and insanely entertaining to watch. There are boring grapplers just like there are boring strikers. It's a shame the UFC has so many pure (or close to pure) wrestlers that potentially scare people away from that aspect of the fight game. The sport of wrestling is about positioning as opposed to finishing with a submission or whatever, so you see quite a bit of stalling when wrestlers aren't comfortable with their jiu-jitsu.

If a fight is on the ground and it's boring, it's probably because the fighters are boring, not well-versed in the submission game, or there's a stalemate or something like that. All of which can happen when fighters are standing as well. Potentially, grappling is just as interesting as striking for me.

I actually really enjoy watching fighters set up take downs and advance their positions on the ground (though I am a wrestler, so I can relate). I'd rather watch GSP take down and control Thiago Alves for 25 minutes than see them slug it out, as long as it remains fairly competitive on the ground. A lot of people call GSP's style boring but I actually really like watching fighters like him.

It's hard not to like GSP given his insane amount of talent and tendency to dominate everyone in every facet of the game. I don't agree with some people that his recent title defenses have been boring, in fact I agree with you that wrestling can also be exciting, transitions and reversals and all that. I don't like it when a wrestler gets on top and does little to no damage, though.

Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of Matt Hughes' strategy for some of his fights; sitting in half guard and throwing a few elbows down for a decision victory. Fortunately, I think today's mixed martial artists are versatile enough that 'lay and pray' isn't really a feasible strategy anymore. I want to see solid, well timed take downs followed by punishment from guard or an advance made towards a submission, or full mount. Personally I don't need to watch a boxing match in a mixed martial arts bout.

Anybody else watching the UFC Unleashed marathon on today? They've got Congo vs. Al-Turk on atm....definitely one of Congo's better fights, and a tad humerous with the double-nut-shot in this fight.

Jamie Varner is an ever growing train wreck. Next, he'll be KO'ed clean and do an interview after saying he suddenly developed narcolepsy; step aside Tito Ortiz.

Yeah, that was a shame. Marquardt has seemed unstoppable lately.

I see Maia subbing most people he crosses paths with though, like Dan Miller next.

Man I was so happy when Henderson subbed him. I like Henderson, he seems like a laid back dude. Plus, the fact he cannot be submitted it cool.

Apparently, Spike is going to start showing Pride fights on Friday nights. Pretty cool, it beats watching them on youtube that's for sure.
