I'm going to be in NYC for a month and I was wondering if any of you live there and/or are familiar with the locations of stores where I can buy merch such as good quality t-shirts? Specifically, merch of GOOD death metal/black metal/grindcore bands. Till now, I've only managed to find Hot Topic and needless to say, their selection is...limited. Thanks. And sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong section.

Fun store, walked in there for the first time a couple of weeks ago. A lot of obscure noise/black metal stuff i've never heard of. Pretty over priced though, but very fun store to hangout in. No cash register even!

There's Generation records, on Thompson street in the village. They have a lot of hardcore to metal stuff. Mostly mainstream stuff but you'll find some gems here and there.

If you walk around st. marks you'll find all these shops full of overpriced crap. They have lots of metal stuff, some better than others, but their all owned by these snobby south Asian guys, no cool stores on st. marks any more (except this awesome Vietnamese restaurant where you can get a huge 5 dollar sandwhich).

Generation records, downstairs they have a lot of shirts: Vader, Blut Aus Nord, Slayer, Dissection,... And they have a ton of vinyl which is pretty cool.

If you want leather and spikes there's Trash in Vaudville on 3rd Ave and St Marks in Manhattan.

If you're looking for steel beams and Home Depot t-shirts, then Google is pretty awesome for finding metal merch in NYC.

Check into the punk and indie places, they tend to carry metal stuff too, and sometimes you'll find some obscure treasures. NYC is a great place to look for vinyl as well as CDs and shirts (the usual).
