This man has the right idea. Why would you want to spent it on something like CDs? Hookers, a hotel room and blow, going out with a bang is the only way to go!

A laptop would be top priority followed by recording equipment and various effects pedals. Could do with some clothes to, ah, being a poor student...

Converting the sum to roughly 1200€ (not quite sure), I would buy a laptop, a new guitar, a nice romantic dinner with my girlfriend, and with the remaining sum I assume that I would blow it all off on cigarettes and alchohol, which I would share with my close frieds.

That's about 2000 AUD...I'd invest it, and then live off the dividends and never have to work another day in my life, or do work and have an extra income. I win.

Since I've just received $1800AU (£902) which is CLOSE to £1000, I'll say what I'll ACTUALLY buy/have bought with that! :D

Have bought:
New Geelong Cats jersey
Paid back some debt to parents
Took my girlfriend out for a classy dinner

Will buy:
100w practice Bass amp
Nice necklace/bracelet for my girlfriend (she deserves it for putting up with me! :P)
Home breathalyser kit
Pay back some more debt to parents (hope to get it to below $500 by this time next week)

I haven't been rich in a while, and after fighting tooth and nail to survive last year in a foreign country all on my own, it's about damn time I spoiled myself (and those close to me) with a few material things.

A very good investment. I approve.

I don't have anything in mind, specifically. I would just end up spending it on cd's, bank a portion of it and just let the rest sit around. This is what I do with all my money. The money that sits around goes towards further albums that take my fancy and the rest goes towards anything I need at any given time. Examples: food, alcohol, credit on phone, clothes if I need any or find a band shirt I like, etc. I am quite boring with how I spend my cash.

A $170 investment now could save me indefinite amounts from loss of licence and subsequent loss of work (I'm on my P's and would never be able to join certain professions with a drink driving conviction). I'll pick one up soon hopefully :D

Well I can hardly use 100w on a stage, I'll need a full size rig to really make some noise.

B.C. Rich KKV
Ashdown MAG bass half stack
Digitech Death Metal distortion pedal
And two large Coffin Cases.

That's my to buy list this year, and that all roughly comes under £1000 based on prices I've found for myself.

Revoke my statement, there is no way I can live off those...nevermind. Still, I'd probably invest it.

Buy a few CDs, and do some travel to Wacken, Tuska, Bloodstock etc. Then I'll dump the rest in a bank for some interest and more money.

Mm, with that I would pay the rest of my CC off (about $250), buy a ton of CDs, purchase better computer hardware for the supposed desktop I will be getting, a decent drawer for my room and probably save the rest in my checking account.

First off I'd buy a new laptop. Then shirts.

I would get a nice guitar with a nice amp and a big rack of effects (distortion, delay, chorus, etc...) then considerable amounts of hashish, LSD, ecstasy and shrooms to spend a nice week tripping out, afterwards buying some nice clothes and reflecting upon the horrors of materialism.

It's $1515US. I checked because I read your post and thought "Christ, the pound has REALLY gone downhill since the GFC!" :P

I still have $1500AU and after I buy my amp, I'm going to look at buying some shares on the stockmarket and a Sat Nav for my car.

Peavey 5150 Half-Stack
Jackson King V

I desperately need new gear. I'm doing the best I can with my 80's era Roland Cube-40 and Cube-100 and Ibanez RG120.
