I'm a huge fan of Bill Hicks, and I've also recently discovered this guy called George Carlin on youtube, and I also think Pablo Francisco is awesome! I think they're brilliant, are there any other similar comedian that are at their level that you can recommend? Thanks in advance ^^

If I were you, I'd scurry up everything by Mr. Carlin as his material is very good imo. It's a shame he left the mortal world last summer. :(

Mitch Hedberg is actually pretty entertaining most of the time. Too bad he's dead too... :(

And if you like this guy, you may also want to check out Demetri Martin. They have similar presentations.

I loved Mitch Herberg. :D I checked him out now, really weird guy with a taste for the absurd form of humor, just like me. Brilliant! I'll check out the other ones as well :)

Demetri Martin is a cunt. Oh and fella, George Carlin is ESSENTIAL to any fan of comedy. Buy his box set of DVDs ASAP.

These guys:

Jim Norton (YouTube: Monster Rain, One Night Stand ; Books: Happy Endings, I Hate Your Guts)
Patrice Oneal
Doug Stanhope (www.dougstanhope.com, download his albums and search YouTube)
Colin Quinn (Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn, and any time he's on Opie & Anthony)
Rick Shapiro (YouTube him - he's unbelievable.)
Nick DiPaolo (NickDip.com, also had a good radio show which can be searched for and downloaded)

As for legends we've all heard of guys like Pryor and Connolly, but please check out Lenny Bruce. You can find his 6-disc set to download for free somewhere, and it's amazing.

I don't know how popular Russell Peters is in the U.S. now, but he's fucking huge here in Canada. This is the show that made him famous (here in Canada). Really funny racial (althought somewhat politically correct) humour:
Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHpXDF0iBuw
Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m23fbrVC7g0
Part 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDsyEkFDOzk
Part 4: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJSJ8rTnu68
Part 5: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mkNibi0uCMQ

Enjoy.

Was dropping by to post Louis CK. This is probably my favorite comedian that is still living.

This may sound a bit odd but honestly, do not sleep on Katt Williams. I always assumed he was one of those awful Comic View comedians they used to have on BET, until a friend made me watch one of his DVDs. This guy is fucking hilarious, and versatile. His set does come off as a bit "motivational speaker mixed with televangelist" sometimes, but he makes it work so well. Great physical comedy as well as clever.

edit: I forgot about Ricky Gervais. I loved Animals, can't wait to see the rest of them. Also, I got the British "The Office" for Christmas and I think I actually like it better than the American version. Its not as over the top funny, but the characters are so much more realistic and less "sitcommy".

There are two Middle Eastern comics...Maz Jabroni and Aron Kader who are part of The Axis of Evil Comedy Tour. The former is Persian and the latter is Palestinian. Pretty funny guys. Here are some samples from both performing at one show of the tour:

Aron Kader: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCF-B1Iz9zs

Maz Jabroni: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4FVFhHKMWw
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z65ZuggghEs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jifTmG9drjE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RrE4SNYiNEw
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HjLijiA4r5k

Obviously I favour the latter comedian more. Plus that clip of Aron's material was pretty much the only stuff I could find on YouTube that pertained to that particular show. :D

I saw an HBO special of his once. The first thing I noticed when I started watching was how many bottles of water he had on the table behind him. I know it was a 2 hour special and he probably gets mad thirsty from all the fast-paced talking and impersonations/voices he's known for doing, but damn, does anyone really need 30 bottles of water for a 2 hour show?

He does also use up a lot of the water as a part of his skit, like with the cat pissing all over everything.

"Nice car, Bob. *water* It's mine, now."

And the whole Viagra part, and the colon check-up. The water bottles functioned both as props and to keep him hydrated (notice how drenched in sweat his hair and shirt are towards the end of the performance).

Came here to post Robin Williams and Louis CK. Good to see them up here already!

No Eddie Izzard yet, but definitely worth a mention. His employment sketch is a classic - especially the bee keeper bit. As far as British mainstream comedy goes, Frankie Boyle is certainly one of the best I loved his recent "There's a lot of debate as to whether Margaret Thatcher should be getting a state funeral. Well, I say for that price you could buy everyone in Scotland a shovel and we'd dig a hole deep enough to hand her over to Satan himself."

I can't stand what Bill Bailey has turned into, I swear he used to be funny - not as much as others may have you believe - but now he's a step away from being Lee Evans.

Edit: Dane Cook has pretty much done a reversal of Bill Hicks's "Hey Buddy... we're Christians... come here!" in that it's "Hey we're Christians! Woo hoo!" and it's not funny.

I always found him more entertaining on Insomniac. He was personable, charismatic, and just genuinely interested in talking to all the fucking drunken idiots he met in his travels. They need to bring that show back, unedited.

I've still not watched Bill Bailey's Tinselworm; it's got some negative press. But his older stuff is all great. Same with Dylan Moran. Don't know if anyone outside the UK will have heard of these ones (except for Billy Connelly, of course), or whether the humour travels well, but these are some of the best:

BILLY CONNELLY: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=SguYlpm3ffQ

ROB NEWMAN: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=MSTuMqVK7P4

Colin Mochrie and Ryan Stiles are worthy of mention.

I like Jim Gaffigan, Denis Leary, Jeff Dunham, Steven Wright, and a few others. Other than that, I don't usually watch particular individuals, but if someone catches my attention, I will sit and watch.

To the OP, I don't think you'll like Denis Leary.....I heard he stole a lot of his jokes from Bill Hicks...But that's just what I heard, I haven't listened to Hicks, just Leary.
