One of the most well known scientists and physicist in the world has passed away at 76 today. An inspiration for millions, a testimony of the power of the human mind and personally one of the figures that got me interested in science since my childhood.
I don't know how many people is into science in this board but I believe this man deserves to be remembered.

Rest in peace.

There is less than an handful of people of his notability alive on Earth at any given time. This was a true loss.

Saw Stephen Hawking do a speech about a decade ago. Great scientist, surprisingly good sense of humor. The fact he lived so long with ALS is mind-boggling considering the percentage of people that live past 10 years is astounding. We have truely lost someone great.

Oh, man that's sad. One of the greatest minds of our time.

At the same time, he powered through 50 years of life that he was told he would not have.

In what will, perhaps, be an entertaining coincidence, the date is 3.14 and it is also Einstein's birthday.

Hawking was a brilliant man, whose contributions to humanity's collective knowledge are impossible to overstate. It's a sad day when a man like this leaves us.

Very sad indeed, but he lived a remarkable life defying all odds, and becoming a voice of reason in a world that seems to be losing it's grip on it.

Yeah, it is incredible how long he lived. Easily one of the most important human beings of recent times. He will be dearly missed.
