Anyone else excited for the 3rd album, Xenocide (out now), by the (kinda') tech deathcore band Aversions Crown?

Spoiler: show

I like the direction they are heading into plus it seems they have vastly improved since their last one, Tyrants (2014), really liked that one too despite some initial gripes.

The breakdowns feel more organic & less prevalent, the vocals are even more beefier & show some creativity, the characteristic atmospheric/melodic aspect also seems more evolved to me. I just hope it isn't brickwalled to fucking shit. Having said that, my ears have adjusted to badly mixed/produced modern metal. *shrug*

The singles they've released have hyped me up to no end. Erebus has a been on continuous replay ever since it was released. Ophiophagy & The Soulless Acolyte are pretty good but Prismatic Abyss...goddamn, that pre-breakdown section with the Nile-esque riff get me every fucking time.

Any thoughts guys, other than the usual deathcore = automatically sucks.

i think its a great album, a bit too samey at times however still a great sounding album i love the guitar tone throughout the album and the new vocalist has plenty of range, everyone seems to elevate the drummer above other drummers that i dont get but he is a great drummer he just does not stand out to me

Thanks for commenting, almost forgot about this thread! :-D

The guitars & vocals are spectacular as you have mentioned, the drumming is solid too imo just nowhere near to what many bands are managing these days. Having said that, the sudden wall of sound style of blastbeats they implement is just fucking crushing. Poida (the vocalist) has another band called I, Valiance, it's some sort of carnival-esque proggy/techy deathcore, pretty awesome stuff. Check it out if you haven't already.

All in all it was solid effort, much better than what some of the bigger bands in the 'scene' are doing these days.

Do you reckon I should try resubmitting them? From what I've heard it sounded pretty 'metal', there are breakdowns here but so are the riffs. Getting some Nile, Behemoth vibes in some of the guitar work.

no problem its a great album imo, i have listened to a bit from his previous band but i need to check out more because i only briefly listened to them but his vocals on Xenocide are very versatile and i agree its a great album getting mixed reviews though and honestly i think you should resubmit them i am surprised they are not on this site already, plenty of bands with way more breakdowns are on this site(thy art is murder for example)
