I had a moment of utter disbelief while reading that. Just terrible. RIP, Chris.

Random thought of the day...

Phase transitions are not just interesting thermodynamics, they are also important things to remember in everyday conversation: snowboarding is fun and games, waterboarding is not.

Steamboarding, though? That's all work, no play.

Interesting although I'm not sure what's the purpose of this machine.

Talking about random thought, how do some members come with a customize rank other than "metalhead" or "veteran", for instance if I take your example Napero and Derigin it's "GedankenPanzer" and "The Mountain Man". I saw some members that have customized rank and some that don't.

My life is full of mysterious questions.

Ah, they're just custom titles. You can always ask me in a PM to give you one, and I don't mind doing it. You've been around long enough.

Give me one. And surprise me.

I think this is a very dangerous request.

I predict his new title will become "Asked for it".

It sounds really nice haha.

Okay then I thought this was your spontaneous decision after sticking around for a long time. Now that you told me that I'm gonna think about a decent title.

It was a joke dude.... Mortician was Mortician. Pretty much exactly what you'd expect from a band that won't embrace the fact that a meme page resurrected their career as musicians and take themselves way to seriously. I have no idea what their set list was because honestly I couldn't care less about them. They sounded ok, standard OSDM.

Obviously, Mortician without memes are pointless.

Oh, those Mortician memes are too funny. I'd go as far as saying that you could revolve the running gag shtick around the "One Mortician Riff Later..." tag alone.
But, let's be honest, the only weak point about those memes is that many of them could easily be applied to dozens of other death metal bands as well. Nevertheless, many are save-worthy, like the one with the Six Feet Under lego dinosaur or the group of little girls with Arch Enemy being the outcast.

nah mortician been lowkey gaining fans the past handful of years for whatever reason. guess people are finally coming around to recognize them for being the absolute geniuses that they are. the meme page, however glorious, is more a reflection of their come-up then a cause, though i'm sure it's helped slightly.

and mortician memes work only for mortician the way manowar memes work only for manowar; both bands are so over-the-top to the point of comedy yet play everything 100000% straight.

I wish there was like, a place you could go to find all the latest goregrind / pornogrind releases and it had a community where everybody knew your name and they were always glad you came and you could be like, “hey fellas, could you recommend me some really out there pornogrind with wicked varied splattery vocals and weirdo synths with sick samples?” And they’d be like “Sure pal, you ever hear of Spermswap? Stay sick buddy!”

Speaking of memes involving Manowar and metal in general...

Some years ago I saw an Avengers movie in theaters (I'm not sure, but I think it was Age of Ultron). And when it was over I went straight home and made a few different versions of a meme featuring a quote from the movie:

And in more recent years, I was introduced to the anime Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, and I just had to make my own contribution to an already very popular meme:

Malokarpatan are as good as everyone said. The most recent album anyways. Super duper highly recommended for fans of Master's Hammer and Mortuary Drape.

Okay dude. And there's nothing 'standard' about Mortician. Kind of an odd statement.

Huh? That page has hardly made a dent in their popularity and activity, and it wouldn't be funny if Mortician started acting like dorks.

In actual real talk I know all of like two people who enjoy Mortician. The rest of us are in it for the memes.

No one in particular, just the reaction people have when they're listening to me playing. And obviously when I start to do some trickier things like sweep picking on three strings (can't do more I'm not a guitar god) they tell me that's absolutely amazing, I'm a great guitarist etc...

Obviously, they're used to the repetitive blues scale.

I think one must make the distinction between a very influential guitarist and a guitar hero. Both of them can be legends, the technic doesn't matter. Like a lot of rock and hard rock guitarists really reinvented the way of making music and playing guitar but I'm pretty sure a ton of tech death guitarists could be more talented than them. But once again to people the only thing that makes a good guitarist are his skills...

On the next Dream Theater album, maybe they will come out as Trump supporters.

The neat thing about the Mortician memes is that you don't need to hear a single song from them to enjoy the memes.

Which reminds me, where do I start with Mortician?

Start with Hacked Up for Barbecue, their best I think. Domain of Death is the weakest, but it's Mortician, all relatively interchangeable and all good.

Hacked Up for Barbecue is their crowning achievement, and one of the best dm albums ever, imo. Darkest Day of Horror might be the best starting point, however. It's lighter on the horror samples and the mix/production keeps all the riffing intelligible during the blast parts. Or perhaps the Zombie Apocalypse EP. Hella knockin ass riffs on that joint.

i'll second the notion that Domain of Death is the weakest, and that's solely because it doesn't really seem to have anything about it that stands out. All their other albums have a characteristic or two that makes it feel distinct. Domain of Death just feels like another Mortician album. Still, if I were to review it on here, it'd likely get like a 75 or so.
