It's not just Australian slang. But it's also a legit cooking device https://www.amazon.com/dutch-ovens/b?ie ... ode=289818

I got some money, which I combined with some of my own savings and the credit on my guitar center Gear Card and bought this:

Thanks. The finish was the only reason I didn't get a Studio over the Classic. Studios aren't weight relieved like the Classic, and have the robo-tuner which is cooler than tits. But that Green Ocean Burst is too sexy.

A bunch of video games and comics, chocolate, a nice warm blanket (+ cushion with a cat on it, lol), some cooking ware, ASoIaF calender 2017.

Good haul actually!

Quadrophenia on DVD (autogift), fifteen liters of gasoline (parentsgift), and a terrible, terrible, terrible hangover (autogift as well). No joke.

A looooot of chocolate, some music from myself, a bit o' cash, a Kindle Fire, shoes, pants, and an Amazon Echo Dot, which is like a voice activated music streaming thing that can also tell you the temp and weather and whatnot. And I got a couple books too.

foreign film dvds, some CDs, a stollen (xmas cake, mostly gone), some 50o vol brandy (half gone), a love letter, some hate mail, small sexual favours...

I'm still missing a few gifts, as I'm not at home (where they were sent), and I haven't seen some friends here yet...

I think you mean Classic isn't weight-relieved, as opposed to the Studio? I have a 2016 Studio in the traditional spec, and it's lighter than air.

And it has no robo tuner, thankfully.

Anyway, congratulations on your new guitar!

I stand corrected - all of the 2017 LP models are weight relieved, don't know why I thought the studios weren't. Even with the relief they are still one of the heavier guitars you can play. And thanks!

Santa was pretty good to me this year. :) For music I got:

Wytch Hazel - Prelude (listening now; thanks for the recommendation Jonpo!)
Angra - Hunters And Prey
16 Horsepower - Hoarse

I also got some ammo and gun stuff, beer, chocolate, and my wife and I got a coffee maker! (We've been using this perforated metal funnel which is cool in theory since it's simple and doesn't use filters... but it's a hassle and takes too long so the coffee is cold and overall just not very practical.) My sister got me Princess Mononoke on blu-ray since I had lent my copy to someone who moved away and never gave it back. :(

Nice dude! Hope you dig Wytch Hazel. I'm still a little put off with Psalm but if I skip that one it's a pretty tight album. Not a lot in my collection like it. It's so reverent and worshipful.

I think it's slang in the US, too, but it's also a piece of cookware, a large pot with a lid. I know this because my mom bought me one a few years ago.

Psalm definitely isn't the strongest on the album, though I do enjoy it. I think it provides some nice variety and is overall a decent track.

Yeah I really don't have much anything else like them in my collection either, though I wouldn't mind remedying that...

Wireless headphones, the small ones that hook around your ears. Power Beats or some such. Pretty good range, walked around house with phone on table and could listen to music. Ideal for the gym.

I got:

A phone (not new, but in nearly new condition)
A battery for my laptop
Two books: one from Philippa Gregory and the new Harry Potter
100 euros to buy a new SSD for my laptop
A lock for my bike
A different edition of the debut album from Epica
and last but not least: a backpack as my old is slowly falling apart.

It's really great. All useful stuff that I asked for.

Nothing. Literally. Welcome to the reality of a middle-aged divorcee. I don't mind, though.

A friend's family gave me a 200 gram pack of chili gummy bears for my birthday (24th Dec), because they guessed I would get nothing, and they were sad. They are called "Napalminallet", which translates to "Napalm Teddies".

I gave the kids quite a haul of things myself. The ukuleles have been especially heavily in use ever since, especially with the second daughter. And Horna loved his catnip-infused stuffed lobster, too.

I got a bit of cash and a couple gift cards, and my brothers all chipped in and got me a skateboard setup (quality materials, they didn't skimp). I'm on the wagon so I'm trying to occupy myself by rekindling my interest in my pre-alcohol hobbies. I'm planning on getting back into my guitar playing and obviously I'm getting back on the board.

It's all about the kids naturally so we tend to channel all of our resources towards gifts for the kiddoes. I dumped $300 into gifts for my son and he had a blast. Always a pleasure watching him open them up.

My family and GF belong to the rather practical thinking kind, so I got lots of clothes (but thank God no socks) and a nice warm blanket and pillow, all of which I very much appreciate and needed a lot more than, say, movies or CDs. Also some money (unfortunately not 2000$, only about 100€) and enough candy to get three types of diabetes and still feed Africa. I guess they gave to me the latter because I've been losing lots of weight in the last few years, so I could need a bit of chocolate. However, an acquaintance bought me a Swans vinyl EP, so I still got something useless but fun :)

A book on hipsters [amusing and maybe relevant since I have a long beard]
A portrait of Batman[?]
Chocolates
Clementine
Copy of the Spectator [been reading it for years on and off]
Remy Martin VSOP [a tradition and always goes quickly, I'm finishing the last of it now]
Two shirts [black thick cotton Levis, black/grey H&M, both very nice]
Insoles for shoes [very comfortable, I recommend these for everyone]
Reef shoes for swimming/diving [do quite a bit of this when abroad]
Cash

I tend not to request CDs/Vinyls since I'm so picky about what I buy anyway on physical media these days. I only bought two CDs in 2016 [Moonsorrow, Alkonost] out of the huge amount of material I listened to.

Really enjoyed reading this thread to see what everyone got.
