I like the first two Yö albums, Dingo, Kaseva, Kollaa kestää, Kalevala, Miljoonasade (some songs), some Juice stuff (he did a lot of shit too), Rauli Badding, Musta Paraati and Mana Mana. Too much stuff I haven't check out.

Sorry, no YouTube links with this phone.

lots of great Finnish punk, noise, and industrial. I'm sure there is a great folk scene too, but I don't know anything about it.

one of the best noise and industrial labels around, and it happens to be Finnish

Thanx for stopping by and making a comment. I checked out some of this noise stuff and a DJ I know at the station I work at would love this noise stuff as his show is primarily very similar. Not sure if he does any Finnish stuff.

Kiitos \m/

Good call on Rattus! Yes, Finland had an incredible hardcore/punk scene in the early 80's. Terveet Kadet, Appendix, Lama, Riistetyt, Destrucktions, Bastards-absolutely killer stuff. Metal fans would appreciate this Mellakka demo from '86, blazing hardcore with some wild Kerry King influenced solos! Their earlier eps are fucking great as well

One of Max Cavalera's favourite bands, Terveet Kädet.
Spoiler: show

Popeda. Legends. The vocalist just quit the band after several decades of mayhem.
Spoiler: show

I think M A Numminen is a great artist and a fine representation of the Finnish mentality.

Kingston Wall is one of the best kept secrets of Finnish rock scene. It's weird that such a talented band was never able to make a real international breakthrough.

I like how Dingo (sometimes) mixed a bit of post-punk into 80's pop stuff. This wasn't from their popular era, but it's Fridy (perjantai) today, so... Have fun weekend!
Spoiler: show

I guess some of you who have followed Finnish metal music, know this one... So ominous...!
Spoiler: show

(Sakari Kukko plays on some Amorphis albums; he's on piano here. And the song is covered for example by Sentenced...)

Wish I could have seen THIS happen back in the day!

Recently been to Finland and came across many I enjoyed

https://youtu.be/iynZZ_-nq3w?si=NwVEQUH7I2K1LOWA

https://youtu.be/I56ubuOPeNo?si=cwdKUuRvQ9apNqdU

Of Moonsorrow and Finntroll fame
https://youtu.be/jH6rNvWKv1Y?si=5ueAAHdEz6EwqqFu

https://youtu.be/VoZTQNCXL08?si=JSO1WSkFXCz_pCg3

These are just a few off the top of my head. Where in Finland will you visit? I spent time in Helsinki, Kilpisjärvi, Hämeenlinna, Espoo, Turku and Rovaniemi mostly

My all-time favourite Finnish rock song (part of the charm is the brilliant poetry of the lyrics, though):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3OgW1PM2EzM

Eppu Normaali started as a punk band, but drifted rather far from their origins over time. This one was playing on the radio when my first kid was born:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckMW6LztSaw

Peer Günt used to be one of the best live bands in Finland:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLXAIE0Z710

J. Karjalainen was already mentioned, but Villejä lupiineja and Laura Häkkisen silmät are both extremely good albums. His voice has improved over the years, but might still turn people off his music, tho:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSN4aPvwin0

Von Hertzen Brothers:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1tAYCTZt6bA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZ19oUREZzQ

From the heavier edge of things, Kotiteollisuus made a pretty awesome series of albums with Eevan perintö, Tomusta ja tuhkasta and Kuolleen kukan nimi, but turned to more...profitable.. direction after them:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtgsTbWFzOQ
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Z1ejwn_MUA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QUEKDWBplWE

And finally, Don Huonot also ranked very highly as a live band back in the 90's:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ONAn1X6nz0
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3to841Dbok

My Twist Twist Erkinharju's favourite drum performance here. Also a great Peer Günt song otherwise. *Cowbell alert!*

Actually, early Värttinä was quite good, in the time of Oi dai and Seleniko. I saw them live in the 1990s in London - opening act the amazing Leningrad Cowboys. That was a great concert!
