So, I guess it's time we discuss this. What are your expectations? Who will you be rooting for? Who do you think is gonna win? When it comes to me, I think Portugal has good chances of going far. Other teams I wouldn't mind see winning would be Germany and Italy. What are your thoughts?

I'm thinking he'll probably stay dead this year too. Damn shame - I wish Varg had waited another couple albums before offing him. What a different world that would have been.

For me it's needless to say I hope Germany wins the cup but if they suck I wouldn't mind if the English went for it. It's about time for them to win something at all... And I hope it won't be Spain again to win and not Italy to beat Germany if they have to duel!

I won't be able to catch many matches as I don't have TV at home right now and I'm going to be pretty busy those weeks (including Graspop festival). Don't know why but I'm not quite in the mood yet...

This is England's best chance to win a major international trophy in years and years and I think they're going to screw up. As always.

best chance for england in years, but defense seems lacking so im guessing they will perish in like the quarter finals.

i dont really know who will do well, i wonder if iceland can keep their qualification form up.

England has a squad loaded with great players. But, they just aren't as good as Germany, France, or Spain. Hence, they won't be winning any silverware this year, I don't think.

I can't look past Germany. They're a phenomenal squad, a class above everyone else in Europe, and anything less than victory will be a failure.

England doesn't have a chance. I've been impressed with France's side since the last WC and the home advantage can only help them. I'm going to say the cup will go to them or Germany.

When was the last time the two top scorers in the Premier League were both English? 17th century? Yeah their squad is the best they've had in a long time, I think people are starting to realise that instead of just importing the whole world to play football on the island, they gotta build up some own talents as well. That aside, I don't think they're on par with the top teams, still.

As for Germany, to quote a famous German football commentator, "You can't just replace a Philipp Lahm." A player praised by none other than Pep Guardiola as the most intelligent player in the world and one of the best Bayern players in the club's history. Not saying that's the only reason for the patchy qualification, but the struggle for a replacement has been one of the big subjects prior to this tournament. A lot of the stability and cohesion is just missing and we badly need someone not only with the same playing skills, but also the same leadership skills on the pitch.

How's Spain doing these days? Assuming they dropped a good chunk of the aging legends they held on too long, I don't actually know that much about how the new generation measures up. I only know Thiago from Bayern games, and Dortmund just got a guy who was never first choice for Barca.

Been a fan of Germany for as long as I can remember. But there's always sympathy for smaller countries going far. Who will they be this time? And England... Always under achieving. I hope they do well in this tournament, just for all the shit they get from the media, if they fail.

spain won't do very well i suspect. They've gotten somewhat better since the last WC but are still far from what they used to be.

FIFA World Rankings are bullshit anyways, they don't reflect the real 'rank' national teams.

They are doing slightly better. There has been a generation change and its always though and when you have won almost everything, even more.

The main problem here is that Del Bosque is trying to replicate the same style with new players which are better playing in a more straightforward way. The Guardiola-esque style can not be repetead because many players have changed and their charactheristics are different.

Today it starts. Forgot to mention Sweden. Hope our dear neighbor does well. Zlatan might be a bit of a cock, but that's one reason he's one of the most interesting players in the tournament. Truly a man to follow.

I love Zlatan's 'i dont give a shit' personality, cause he backs it up. They've got the hardest group i believe. It's gonna be tough.

Their first game is against Ireland. I'm no expert, but they should handle it.

Romania were a remarkably worthy opponent (extraordinarily disciplined defense) despite some of their unscrupulous tackles. Respect.

Wouldn't it be nice if Wales and Northern Ireland did better than England? Wouldn't it be nicer if England finished the first round with zero points and zero goals?

Not a good referee between Wales and Slovakia.

Anyway, very many missed clear chances so far in the tournament. Some due to great saves but alot because of poor finishes.

Also today the first goal in Wales-Slovakia and the only goal in Albania-Switzerland involved very bad actions from the goalkeepers.

Croatia played so well. With a little more luck it could've been 4-0. Only thing I was missing was Davor Suker.

Poland beat Northern Ireland 1:0 giving an example how to dominate a rival team. By the way, it's first win of Polish team on Euro!

After the two recent matches with the Netherlands and Lithuania, I feared that the bad streak would continue, but I'm glad to be proven wrong. Also, I really liked how our team kept on going forward and looking for more chances after scoring that goal, instead of immediately moving into "defense mode".

France was so lucky, again!!. The were desperated and without ideas but that goal was great. Romania impressed me, a very organized team which never made an step back.

Did anyone watch the match between Germany and Ukraine? impressions?

Our team's not very stable yet, that's the impression. We do great in the moments we get our shit together but suffer from shaky periods in between. Pretty much a repeat of the world cup group stage.

Ukraine seemed to go into the match with too much respect and showed some great moves when they realised they gotta (and are able to) play some football.

germany was good and ukraine was not half bad either but were mostly just outclassed.

So far i'm going to stamp croatia with the most dangerous outsider stamp. Very good game vs Turkey but to win they need to score more.
Turkey was playing a bit flaccid and predictable but actually got somewhat better when Arda left the field. That Emre Mor kid is going to be a big one already can see why Dortmund signed him.
