My brothers want me to learn to play drums so I can join there band. Can any one give me a good idea of what the best starter kit for an amateur player, only wanting to play punk/grindcore with a dash of stoner/doom thrown in. Looking for the cheapest option possible

Happened to be wandering here. Just get you a Tama Rockstar kit. It's your basic set up and it's not garbage so you shouldn't be embarrassed about using it to go out to play shows. It retails new for like 4-500 bucks. Also check craigslist and ebay you can get them cheaper. or a music store that sells used gear. I got a Tama Swingstar from the 70's 11 piece kit for 400 bucks before. So you can possibly get a used one for 1-200. Just shop about a bit.
