Checked this out after I read your post. Awesome stuff, actually. Thanks. With such big names in black metal coming from Norway, I can see how albums like this can get overlooked.

So apparently Pandora thinks Whourkr and Candlemass are similar enough to play the latter on the former's station.

Pandora fucking sucks for metal.

You're complaining about being able to listen to Candlemass?

Are you nuts?

I got Eluveitie while listening to the Insomnium station, and Attack Attack! while listening to the As I Lay Dying station. (Last time I ever did that!)

Insomnium and Eluveitie are inherently similar. The former has some high quality melodeath releases, however, whereas the latter is super derivate, uninnovative and has superficial folk elements stuck on its outer shell. Yet both are melodeath deep down.

If I were Pandora, I would separate all that folky melodeath from the normal melodeath. I mean, Eluveitie aren't terrible, but if I'm listening to Insomnium, I want more things like Insomnium.

Pandora is not really great at grouping similar artists together, no matter what genre. My art teacher uses Pandora to play music in my class, and he wondered how they choose these artists, because he was getting some bizarre results.

This is quite something else, really excellent stuff. You posted this in the Mini-review thread, and I loved it. Much better than ...Again Shall Be which to me felt a little under-developed and cumbersome at times. The albums following their name alteration I don't really remember that well, and they changed direction slightly.

Finally someone brings this band up! Fantastic stuff, the mainman of this band was even said to have participated in church burnings with Varg himself- it's a wonder that something like that didn't give them notoriety alone. That, and their elegantly composed, headbangable-yet atmospheric riffs that just get better with each repetition as they add little spices and contrast it with other elements in the song.

Alas, since their magnum opus was kind of late to the black metal party (Dawn of the Dying Sun was released in 1997) it seems like they're forever destined to remain an overlooked second-string Norwegian BM band. I'm down with Darkthrone and Immortal but if people were to stop showering these guys with praise for just a minute and look a little deeper in Norway they'd see a plethora of brilliant bands that deserve just as much recognition and analysis, if not more.

It's actually pretty rare for slam fans to pop up around here. Makes you wonder if they're as prevalent as they're made out to be.

Hah, that was fucking terrible yet again you are slowly making modern death metal look worse one band at a time. Keep up the good work Dillon.

Maybe that was my intention all along - to show people the evils of modern death metal, and retreat to the safety of tried-and-true DM classics such as Morbid Angel, Demilich and Incantation!

Wait, nope, on second thought I just like a lot of shitty BDM and goregrind.

The mung are fun as, only seen them live, not heard them on cd, but the vocalists use of two mics is really entertaining to watch as are his laughably childish introductions. They're stupid, but fun.

Funny story time, because why the hell not, I need to tell someone.

Couple weeks ago, I'm hanging out with of my friends in his basement, and his 12-year-old brother comes down. Now, this kid is really sketchy already, smokes weed frequently at his age and whatnot. So the kid just walks in and slams an 100 dollar bill onto the coffee table, my friend asks him, "where the hell did you get that money?"

He looks him dead in the eye, and responds, without any emotion whatsoever:

"I am involved in the buying and selling of negroes".

Then he walked out. To this day we still have no idea where he got the money.

I've had three nights of insomnia, and got less than four hours of crappy sleep each night. Last night I managed 6, and I feel there's more on the way.

So fuck it, I'm staying home today.

Who's ordered from Hells Headhangers before? I'm assuming a lot of you, so here's my question about their tracking. It's been a week, and it's still hovering at "Processed through USPS Sort Facility" in Chicago. For those who order from HHR and are outside of North America, does the tracking continue once it's outside of NA? Unless the USPS is really slacking, and from what I've heard it really does, it can't take this long. But then again I'm really eager for my package and I've just become a spoiled suburban white university student.

It takes longer than a week to get from the US to Aus. HHR usually takes two to three.

I don't know, nobody I know has ever had trouble waking up at one o'clock in the afternoon after thirteen hours of sleep.
