Since they just announced the set times for this year's fest here...

...I figured I'd make a thread to see who else is planning on going here? Me and a couple of other guys from the GD crew are already planning on going, but I'd totally be down to see some bands there with anyone else from here as well.

I'd love to go, but I burned all my vacation time on 70K this year (and MDF is during our busy season, so GFL getting off over the weekend). That said, I caught both Avulsed and Sodom onboard and neither are to be missed. Sodom is kind of a given but I can't reiterate enough just how fucking vicious they were. Maybe a top 5 performance for me. Likewise, Avulsed are a ton of fun and Dave is a great vocalist and incredible live performer. Otherwise, I'm fucking jealous, have a great time!

It was fun but very exhausting for me because I made a day trip to Richmond, VA the Tuesday before to catch Esoteric and Chthe'ilist because I didn't have access to Thursday at all. The huge crowds coupled with the humidity make me appreciate my normal smaller shows more. I need a show cooldown for about half a month after this.

I also tested positive for covid today and can guarantee I picked it up from the fest. I feel fine right now, but it might explain why I was so achy on Sunday.

My favorite sets in order:
Melechesh
Primordial
Atheist (as always)
Nuclear Tomb completely owning the spillover dive bar this year! Kudos to my local boys!
Sodom (Wednesday's set)
Dismember (finally, despite getting washed out with some rain which made me retreat with my camera gear to watch from the parking garage)
Agalloch
Forbidden
Sacrifice
Ahab
Vacant Eyes

Bear in mind, after the Wednesday pre fest and missing Thursday completely, I only had access to the outside stages. I sadly couldn't experience the likes of Archgoat or Mortuary Drape that a lot of people dug.

Got Instagram highlight reels with my DSLR up for Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Nice! That's the general vibe I get after fests too, like "this band is great but I wish it was at a more intimate venue". Totally makes sense about Covid, it's going around like crazy again right now. Cool pics!
