Always wonder why no one spoke of Wacken 17, and now Wacken 18. Well, I now wonder no more.

I have been a couple of times, though never as a visitor. I was working at the metal market. It's too big, with too many annoying 'fans', and ofcourse the line-up has only sporadically an interesting band for me.

This is the second year in a row that it hasn't been sold out since 2009 or something, right?

10 years ago it sold out 10 months ahead of the event, last year it sold out 5 months ahead of the event if I remember correctly. Didn't follow their news in-between those two times.

Last year was insanely crowded so I doubt the "sold out" announcement was fake.

I tried to get tickets when Savatage was playing and it was essentially impossible unless I sold a kidney and blew a guy.

Next year would be their 30 year anniversary so I would expect the line up to be special.

Would love to go just to see Zeal and Ardor perform but I can't imagine how crazy Wacken usually gets
