I'm coming again (for my 3rd time) for sure, I already have my tickets. Pretty magnificent line-up, as usual, and the overall atmosphere is always awesome.

This would be my first festival in 10 years, last one was Download Fest in the UK. I'll be attending Wacken first than this.
2 festivals almost back-to-back just to compensate for all the lost time lol. If you got recommendations on things to-do or avoid; it would be much appreciated \m/

Line-up changes:

Morbid Angel (whole festival tour cancelled due to passport issues), Soen, Aeon, and Protector are out.
They got Uada, Hour of Penance, and Artillery instead, and they said they are searching for a headliner of MA's caliber, but it's a super-short notice. Also, the schedule is out at https://brutalassault.cz/en/running-order/

If anyone's in town on Tuesday 8th, there will be a warm-up party in the city center of Josefov, with Hentai Corporation, Locomotive, Čad, Morkhimmel and Human Humus. I can recommend Hentai Corporation and Čad - both are fun live.

I have faith in the Obscure guys, they've pretty much had every extreme metal band possible at Brutal Assault already, they have good contacts. They'll arrange a decent enough substitute (although nothing quite compares to Morbid Angel, who haven't played BA yet), probably some OSDM band. Maybe Vader or some classic Swedeath.

Eeeer, wrong. The did play, twice actually - 2006 in Svojšice and 2011 at the current location. Saw them both times ;) Anyway, it's a sad loss for the festival and fans.
I read now that Walls of Jericho cancelled too their whole festival run (drummer injury).

(my first post ever here since I joined in 2011? wow.)

You're right, I have no idea why I took that for granted. Brainfart. Also, Walls of Jericho I can live without, they're painfully monotonous, although quite energetic live.

By the way, they announced roughly a dozen acts for the Ambient Lodge stage - the highlights of that include Gnaw Their Tongues, In Slaughter Natives, and Human Larvae.

Full list of those acts:
Aghiatras
Arrm
Femheim
Gnaw Their Tongues
Haiku Funeral
Hluková Sekce
Human Larvae
In Slaughter Natives
Treha Sektor
Troum
Yhdarl

Gnaw Their Tongues live, that must be what nightmares are made of.

Not quite sure if I want to see them, especially under influence of absinth shots - the reason why I visit Ambient Lodge :D
Anyway, I'm just checking schedule and to me Friday and Saturday seem to be the weakest days. Hopefully today's announcement of MA replacement will fill that gap.

So the replacement for Morbid Angel is Carcass. I've already seen them twice, but hell, on such a short notice, this is definitely an acceptable replacement. They're quite fun live, although I do like MA more.

Well, that was quite something. Massive portion of music, some awesome performances (many... Emperor, Demolition Hammer, Dillinger, Prong, God Is An Astronaut...), some weird ones (ahem... Tiamat???), a couple of huge rainstorms, and my personal achievement of managing to fall asleep during Gnaw Their Tongues and wake up quite refreshed 20 minutes later.

I just came back home yesterday after 2 days driving (900 and 1100 Kms).
You're right:
-Emperor was AMAZING: I keep asking myself for more FIRE during their set!
-Demolition Hammer: Speechless.
Downloading all their discography.
-Carcass: I KNEW Jeff would make the "Sorry, we're not Morbid Angel" joke! Image
Bill Steer is a fucking riff master! Those small interludes and mix of songs got me crazy just like Andreas Kisser did the only time I saw Sepultura live.
...
-Rainstorms: Cool. I could stay dry for one night but not for the next one.
-Cinema: Cool place to relax during day away from the sun.
I specially enjoyed Dinner for Adele (fun!) and Old Boy (what a film!):
http://brutalassault.cz/en/news/grindhouse-cinema-2017/

Once again... Thanks, Brutal Assault!

Of course Jeff had to make that joke, the guy is a hilarious frontman :D. Carcass were great, although where I was standing, Bill's guitar was popping on and off, which was annoying. It's just that after seeing more or less the same show, I knew what to expect... however, I did not expect them to play "Keep On Rotting In The Free World", a nice treat. Emperor... I'm not the biggest fan, but that was just intense and tight as hell.

The bands I didn't know and discovered this year include Cough, Disperse and Wolfheart (whom I heard of before, but didn't notice until their really good set).

I haven't even been to the cinema in my three times at BA, because I always either end up having a drink somewhere or just chill in the Ambient Lodge. I also have to commend on the way this was organised: I came to the area on Wednesday around 2 PM (more or less the same as last year) and I waited literally 2 minutes to get in, compared to a solid 30-45 last year. Top-up was done online, they are really fixing a lot of problems.

True too. There were some problems with the audio.

Same here. I entered through a row of... 4-5 persons?!?
And everything seemed like REALLY greatly organized.

-Batushka: I don't like them but, yes, the show was fascinating and their drummer, impressive:

What's with all the storming this year? My tent nearly flew away and the newcomer stage fell to pieces at Metaldays :D

BRUTAL ASSAULT 2017 AFTERMOVIE & NEW VIDEOS published 3 days, 9 hours ago
Better late than never, an official aftermovie as a reminder of the last edition of Brutal Assault is finally out on our YouTube channel. Feel the unique vibe of Fortress Josefov once again even in the midst of winter. Thanks to all for being part of this and see you in 7 months.
Also, from February you should get ready for BA live videos. So you would remind that edition of 2017 was full of great live sets.
