I'm working on this report here:
http://www.metal-archives.com/report/vi ... 8/show/all

Unfortunately the only coverart I can find is on that demo archives site, which watermarks all of the album artwork. I've started some work on removing the watermark, but it suddenly occurred to me that maybe posting it here once I finished would be breaking some rule/be illegal. So, how should I proceed here? Go forward with removing the watermark, and if it looks good enough, add it? Add the album with no artwork? Don't add the album at all?

I've finished the watermark removal. It's not perfect but it seems passable to me. At any rate I'll wait for some feedback on this thread before adding anything to the database.

I don't think it's illegal since the site isn't using them commercially. The watermark itself has no legal relevance, and presumably most covers here are copyrighted.

Possibly the one you photoshopped doesn't look exactly like the original, but atleast it looks more like it than the watermarked one so I like it. Watermarks are an eyesore.

Ideally, in a perfect world, we'd prefer if watermarks are kept. Also, ideally, we prefer pictures that aren't watermarked over those that are.

So, go with the watermarked version on this one?

You can leave it as is. Just consider this guideline moving forward.
