I'm looking for bluesy Doom metal in the vein of Doom. The hardcore elements should be subtle, but not nonexistent. I'm looking more for the sparse, trancy stuff like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5R-TTl9b6JU. As far as lyrical themes, anything goes, but fear of death is one of particular subject that interests me (the whole inevitability and "how does it feel to be unfeeling" stuff).

Bluesy doom/southern in vein of Down, hmm. Heap of similar bands are available. First of all, Acid Bath, extremely similar to Down. Orange Goblin. Very neat use of blues, fuzzy stoner oriented rhythm sections with a dose of heavy psych. Then you've got Corrosion of Conformity, Melvins, Alice in Chains, Alabama Thunderpussy, Kyuss, Black Label Society, Texas Hippie Coalition. All of them are very similar to Down.
