Hey guys, very long time lurker, first time poster! Looking to post some around here so I figured my first post would be in this section.

I'm looking for that thick, wall of sound/layered metal. Really have an itch for it right now. I'm a sucker for production. But I'm looking more in the lines of stuff like Uneven Structure - Februus, Strapping Young Lad - Alien/City era (Devin's solo work as well) and Mithras - Worlds Beyond the Veil. I'm not the biggest fan of black or drone metal, though, so I guess that's really the challenge haha. Shame on me, I know.

Of course if you think it's really special feel free to recommend me it anyway (I do love The Angelic Process so it's not all out of the question), but I'm really looking for something that's thick in the vein of those albums.

Thanks in advance.

If you like TAP, then give Thaumogenesis by Nadja a try, same kind of thing really.

Yeah I love Nadja. Also love Ulcerate. Both good bands.

Hadn't heard much material by Jesu, 40 Watt Sun or Alcest, though. Gonna check out more of these guys material. Thanks.

I find The Electric Hellfire Club's "Electronomicon" to be sonically dense. The riffs are heavy as fuck, with very modern, overdriven sound, combined with the frequently changing beat and electronicy sound FX and samples it seems very dense to me.

Probably not all that many layers, really. Your millage may vary on this one... Check out the track "Broken Goetia" for the densest bits, though it flows forth naturally from the previous track... Just check out the whole thing, it's top 10 albums stuff.

Any of Celeste's albums. Extraordinarily dense and loud music. I love them, but I can only take so much of it at a time simply because of how crushing the production is.
