Well, I've heard that one of my favorite bass players, Jeroen Paul Thesseling, played a lot of flamenco before rejoining pestilence an joining Obscura... So I've been eager to hear some flamenco, but I just don't know where to start!!

Basically I'm hoping to hear some technically demanding flamenco music... Maybe with some Jazz Fusion or World Music influences/background

Thanks in advance!!

You can just begin and end with Paco de Lucia. There's no one that's carried the torch farther in his style than him. He's the guy that flamenco guitarists could only aspire to be if they were given over three decades and a world of untapped jazz/fusion to explore. He pioneered the fusion of flamenco and everything outside of flamenco, and his sense of improvisation and harmony take the traditions of his style further beyond any other in his field.

i find ojos de brujo to be an amazing band:

not technical per se, but does have world elements. probably would classify it as nuevo flamenco. really gets going around 3:10.

Paco Pena, Chano Lobato, Camaron de la Isla...

You know, REAL flamenco.
