Exactly as the Title Says. Metal w/ Trumpets or other horn instruments. I don't want any Symphonic Metal band or song.

Examples. For to end yet again by Arcturus: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewguWhQZEYI (happens after Piano part)

L'art de Mourir by Sigh http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YaOmWf7-6io

La Rumeur des Chaines: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7g2DUHNyu9Y
Jazzy black metal. Rather symphonic, but almost too good to ignore.

Brass instruments!

Trumpet, Trombone, Baritone (played this one in middle school), Euphonium, Tuba, French Horn!

I apologize for contributing nothing to this thread.

@triggerhappy, is the band in the archives, I can't find them. Really good though.

@bearkin, instead of saying you contributed nothing, how about just not posting instead.

Now, to contribute something, Sigh's most recent studio album has mariachi like trumpets, really good stuff.

Sculptured has some brass in the first two full-lengths: The Spear of The Lily Is Aureoled and Apollo Ends.

Also seconding Sear Bliss, they don't have a bad album and the brass sections are very well placed and not at all overdone.

Saxophones are woodwind instruments, the OP is asking for brass instruments.

Sunn O)))'s Monoliths & Dimensions has some beautiful trombone parts played by Julian Priester and Stuart Dempster, among many other well arranged orchestral instruments. An absolutely must-hear album.

King Crimson's Falling Angel. Belongs (arguably) to their 'prog metal' phase, and features a cornet (with oboe and saxophone as well).

I can't tell different horns apart very well, but im pretty sure there is some trumpet work on Bath by Maudlin of the well, which is an excellent album.

Ok how about the all the various music and soundtracks that were used for the old Godzilla movies? They use real heavy brass sounds and tons of trumpets and it sounds evil and really scary, and really good too.

check out the album Providence by Callisto, very good Post metal in the vein of Neurosis, Cult of Luna and Isis with some horn instruments, the song New Canaan is a good example

One of the songs near the end of Neurosis' "Souls At Zero" has some trumpet (I think) near the coda, can't remember exactly which song as I haven't heard that album in a while, though

No way man. As much as I like them, they are symphonic, and use more than just the brass section of an orchestra. Woods of Ypres might hold some answers, specifically the song I Was Buried at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, which features a nice horn solo in the bridge.

Neurosis uses bagpipes, violins and cellos. No trumpets.

Hi everyone, I have been searching something in the vain of SIGH' Scene's from Hell for a while: Extreme metal with a heavy use of brass instruments and I found out something great in
- Pensées Nocturnes, 2013 - Nom d'une Pipe! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b98slemvieM
- Pensées Nocturnes, 2016 - À boire et à manger https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hx86__ezEIo

Also, in this one:
- Imperial Triumphant, 2018 - Vile Luxury, Swarming Opulence https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sNDuiaa_QrY

Now, is anybody aware of something akin to this? Extreme atonal music a la Gorguts/Deathspell Omega with these brass instruments coming in all along? I just got Imperial Triumphant's last CD willing to find the whole album in this particular style, but it happens that the only song in this particular style is the "Swarming Opulence"

Riot's "The Privilege of Power" has a full section. grown men (who were expecting Thundersteel pt.II) were weeping over their turntables and on the streets when it was released. try "Killer", but don't say I didn't warn you :D

I'm absolutely floored by the fact that nobody mentioned Behemoth's "The Satanist" yet.

Yep I kinda exhumed this thread from 2011, a year when Brass and Metal where certainly not in the same cup of tea for me, hehe...
Thanks to this I got to know La Rumeur des Chaines and Sear Bliss, but I have to admit that I don't really know if I like Sear Bliss for now (time will tell...)

True, nobody mentioned Behemoth earlier. It's a shame they didn't use more trumpets in ther late records, I could easily trade their heavy metal-like solos with doomy sections with trombones and stuff (a la Dawn of Megiddo). However, thank you, I kind of forgot about "The Satanist" for a while, I'm giving it another listening!

About Riot, wow, I never heard of that album... I'm getting a Helloween - Walls of Jericho feeling from it! haha

Anyone who wept has no taste, that album rules. Better than Thundersteel, imo, and the horns are cool.
