Hey folks, I loved Moonspell's latest album "1755" so I'd like to hear more albums in this vein. Any recs?

Well, i would recommend latest Therion's music but I'm not very familiar with their opus.

Thanks for the rec, but it was too Power Metal-esque and not extreme enough for my taste. Thanks anyway.

I haven't listen the álbum so I may be completely wrong but, after playing a couple of songs, I detected a Sirenia/Tristania vibe in the symphonic moments and the parts with vocal choirs.

You could try Sirenia's last albums or Tristania-Beyond the Veil (this one is always worth listening, even if it's not exactly what you're looking for).

Thanks for the recs! Sirenia is a bit too cheesy for me, but I liked Tristania! :)

I would say Septicflesh, with their albums: Communion, The Great Mass and the latest - Codex Omega.

Also try Hollenthon as well
