Melodic death metal bands that don't skirt the line between Gothenburg and metalcore. Please.

Anata, technical but not wanky, and full of absurdely great melodies.

This is my absolute favorite song by them.

Also Kronos from France (Colossal Titan Strife album). Pretty brutal, some melody, pure awesomness.

I'm gonna go with the Black Dahlia Murder. Although they are 'classified' as metalcore because of their look, their music doesn't resemble it at all. The metalcore label turned me off to them at first until I gave them a good listen.

Seriously? How do people think that is like this?

Altough I don't think that TBDM resembles Quo Vadis at all (have listened to Arsis some time ago, don't remember anything, I guess I found it to be boring), I also find it very funny when people throw them under the "metalcore" thing. "Unhallowed" had some hints in some songs, like "Closed Casket Requiem" or "Elder Misanthropy" chorus, but they've got rid of any "coreness" right after this album.
