I'm looking for those late '70s, early 80's bands that form the missing link between hard rock and heavy metal. Examples include Thin Lizzy, UFO, Diamond Head and AC/DC with Bonn Scott. I really like these four bands, because I feel like they're not really tied to one genre. The sound I'm looking for is rather bluesy, but very heavy and rocking.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JaxLXQtGIgY - This video strangely includes two songs. The main riff in the second one that starts after a while is what I mean.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fz7eeOe0gNU - That very dirty, crushing, bluesy opening riff is what I'm looking for.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajJYL1GaVlo - This shows very much how this music is transitional between hard rock and heavy metal. This also includes folk elements which I digg a lot.

Have you heard Sir Lord Baltimore or The Hand of Doom? I think they're exactly what you're looking for.

Demon is one of my personal favorites NWOBHM acts that has some bluesy hard rock leanings.

I definitely suggest lots of 70s Scorpions. Look for songs like "Dark Lady", "Virgin Killer", "Son in my Hands", "sails of CHaron". All are great.

Also, FLower Travellin' Bands "Satori". Check this out:

Believe it or not, this is from 1971. This is why I believe the band should still be on the archives.

Maybe try some Danzig if you haven't already? Very bluesy and pretty mid-ground hard rock/heavy metal I'd say.

You may have heard them already, but Motley Crue!

Their debut is exactly what you need!
