I think this kind of thing I'm looking for, namely guitar-synth driven "darker" and somewhat "artificial" (in terms of futuristic) form hard rock / metal, is prominently to be found in 80s stuff but as back then this was too soft for me and I just recently developed an interest in this I just don't have clue (besides maybe Priest's "Turbo" which is too cheesey imo but "Out in the Cold" is slightly ok when it comes to this resarch) for which bands I should look out for.

The best example I can give is "Progress" by Rogue Male who I discovered short time ago

and one of my all-time fave artists Billy Idol who has this sound especially on "Cyberpunk". Here'S an example (go forward to about 00:59)

so - any idea which i could check out for wave-like-guitar-synth-driven-rock-metal?

I know that for many of you this may be not metal enough but hopefully someone can help me...

Thanks!

maybe Rush's "Tom Sawyer"? It's not really "wavy" but has a somewhat futuristic guitar sound. Is this what you're looking for?

hmm, yes, has this kind of feel I'm looking for... thanks... I've always thought of Rush as a "playing complicated 15 minutes songs" band. Haha, how wrong I've been...

It's difficult to know what you're after. The first band you gave sounds very glam, the Billy Idol one is almost dance-pop.

oh, I thought that there are some audible similarities. Maybe only I hear them... It's not that easy to describe, hmmm, maybe what I'm after lies somewhere in the middle.
Some kind of slightly futuristic, artficial sounding, 80s influenced hard rock/metal. Not harsh stuff like Fear Factory (but mellow stuff like their "Cars" Coverversion is fine!) and the like but, well, lighter sounds...
Damn - I hope you can somehow understand what I mean *lol*
