The title says it all, I'm looking for metal bands that take influence from the hippie jam/physchedelic rock bands. I don't really care what metal genre its mixed with, but it would be really cool to hear harsh vocals and blast beats during some freakout jam band style guitar solo.....

Thank you for your time

check out Korpse. They are a really trippy sounding old school death metal band with sludgey tendencies. Lots of weird affects, specificaly lots of bass wah. Not really jam band sounding but it has that physchedelic vibe.

Too, too much to name. For a start there is Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Rainbow...

#2 suggestion: Oranssi Pazuzu's "Muukalainen Puhuu"

Yes, this!

And I'm surprised no one mentioned newer Nachtmystium yet, check out the album Assassins and Instinct: Decay.

I second this. fantastic album, they blend nordic black metal and psy rock in a very natural way. highly recommended.

I don't know for real, but maybe this is what you're searching:
http://www.myspace.com/duffdowner

Duff Downer is a quiet good band from my small home city.

DopeThrone is good heavy stoner sample metal.

I wasn't really looking for a "stoner" feel, more of a jam/freakout feel. Thanks for all the suggestions though

Although they don't have much of a jam band/freakout feel to them, Sólstafir do take some cues from psychedelic rock on their later albums, particularly Köld. It might be a long shot, but I'd suggest you'd give them a spin anyway.

I wouldn't call them metal, but Radio Moscow fit your seem to fit your description pretty well. Their Brain Waves release reminds me of Hendrix's heavier stuff, like Cream on acid.

Neither have blast beats or overtly harsh vocals, but they're the closest things I can think of.

Jumalhamara - Slaughter The Messenger - very good stuff with a strong pink floydian influence imo.

Skeleton Of God - Primordial Dominion
http://www.metal-archives.com/release.php?id=222372

The MA entry says Death Metal/Grindcore but there's definitely Psychedelic elements to it.

Vediog Svaor is a black metal band with 60's psych rock influences. Definitely worth looking into!

I second Nachtmystium and Oranssi Pazuzu.

Funcunt is a band you may like... VERY strange, though. One minute, it's psychedelic folk rock jams and strange murmurs to heavy technical death metal with psychedelic influences. Pretty sweet, I'd say.

Maybe Trouble, they are influenced by bands like Cream and Iron Butterfly,Try Psalm 9,but my favourite is the 1990 self titled.

Tron - Tron Bloody Tron
Weird sound, it's got some psycheledic, "let's just play and find out"-things on it.

Giant Squid - The Ichthyologist
Strong psychedelic rock and 60s rock in general influences.

How about Ancestors - Neptune With Fire? Or YOB mayhaps.

I'm naturally seconding Oranssi Pazuzu again for good measure. That thing is bound to pop up as soon as someone is looking for anything psych-y in his music, as past rec-threads have taught us. And a spot-on album indeed.

There's gotta be tons of stoner metal bands with jam vibes, but I'm too lazy to find out right now.

Alchemist!

Check out their debut album 'Jar of Kingdom' for some REAL trippy DM

Other releases are superb but the 1st one is by far the weirdest

I second this, it's a must have. I'd also check out Metridium Fields for a heavier and doomier feel if you're into that as well.

Nokturnal Mortum, as previously stated, also is genius.
